Great job, V. You've really got all the menace (or pseudo-menace, as the case may be) down pat. And the image of Sark straddling Syd was both very clear and immediate, and hot. ;)
OK. That's mine. Who else is writing S3 Sarkney, anyway?
I've been enjoying the hell out of S3, but it's given me zero writing inspiration. Which is fine, since I'm attempting Farscape, but it's strange nonetheless. *g*
Odd about the inspiration thing. At this point I can actually picture myself turning out some kind of short piece every week of this season. Which would be frighteningly productive, even if some of them are only 100-word drabbles. This may not come to pass, but it would be pretty cool if it did.
She's about a second away from telling him that if he doesn't like his position he can get the hell off of her--and she could swear that he not only reads the thought in her eyes but also the effort it takes to repress it, because his mouth lifts in the faintest imitation of a smile before he's serious again, all back to business.
That was perfect. Sark harder, yet more vulnerable. Sydney harder and more likely to prod at things that shouldn't be poked.
Or maybe I'm thinking too much. Never a good thing. :)
(By the way since I'm catching up and just reading it now -- your husband's comment about the red wine? So my father. A tad terrifying, let me tell you.)
The wine in this is just one of those "let your disbelief go bungee-jumping" things. Someday, I'll write a Sark story where they treat the wine right, because at heart I'm an awful pedant.
Thank you for the feedback--and LOL regarding the "poking things that shouldn't be poked" comment.
