And this is why I do music

Jan 08, 2008 12:15

I'm having just too much fun. Last night was the first orchestral rehearsal of the year. Lots of new music handed out for the concert on the 29th March. Among these, one is a romp through classical music as seen on Bugs Bunny cartoons, which has time-changes galore. Another is the theme music to Mission Impossible, an absolute percussion-fest, but ( Read more... )

Do you know what I think? I think you want to begin world domination by controlling everything with your condutor's baton, starting with the music and then working from there!

Well I am afraid I can't let you do that! If the fate of the world rests in my hands then I am prepared to sacrifice myself for the greater good!!! DRAMATIC PAUSE.....

Ooops sorry, I just had a quick blast of worlddominationitis. It is very contagious. But I am feeling much better now. I'll just go talk to George now.

The bit saying ERROR is nothing to do with me - dunno what that is about! I never touched anything! Honest squire!

It's because you put the 'sorry, whaddaya mean' bit in those pointy brackets - LJ uses those for commands (such as naming a user or doing a cut link)

Actually, I thought the Error message at that point complemented the dramatic flow of the post wonderfully! "I am prepared to sacrifice myself - (dramatic pause) ... system dies...".

What, more fun that cantering on Rummage or popping over jumps? Nah, can't be!

Each to their own, hey? Glad you're having fun.

You could, of course, combine the two pursuits...

That sounds like a fun selection of music.

I forgot to add The Pink Panther, Themes from 007, The Lark Ascending, In the Steppes of Central Asia, Saint-Saens's Danse Macarbre, & Debussy's Cathedral Engloutie. You could always come to the concert! {:c)

I'd really like to - that sounds like fun. How long is it expected to last? Also if we brought the kids and one of them got bored part way through would it be OK taking them out? What time of day is it?

It's a couple of hours, starting 7:30. I suspect that's asking too much of the kids.

Only the classical bits and not the Raymond Scott? Shame :-)

I have a CD called "Bugs Bunny on Broadway" which includes
1. Overture -Merrie Melodies Main Title Music
2. This Is A Life?
3. High Note
4. What's Up Doc?
5. Baton Bunny
6. Jumpin' Jupiter
7. The Rabbit of Seville
8. Act II Entr'Acte
9. A Corny Concerto
10. Long-Haired Hare
11. What's Opera Doc?
12. Merrie Melodies Closing Theme - "That's All Folks"

And so a fair chunk of the famous classical pieces from BB cartoons.

And Mission:Impossible is such a fun piece!

This has more than just the classical. Fingering through the score here, I see in order: "This is it", "William Tell", "The Barber of Seville", "The Merry-Go-Round Brke Down", "Hungarian Rhapsodie No.2" (Liszt's), "Hungarian Dance No. 5" (Brahms's), "The Ride of the Valkeries" & "Merrily we Roll Along".
