Minato didn't look any different from normal. His long-sleeved blue shirt and jeans combo was as uninteresting as it was on a daily basis--though he did have a santa hat on his head. Whether or not he put the red and white hat there is hard to say; it's equally possible that someone else stuck it on there and he just didn't bother to take it off.
Who knew at this point with him, really?

Notably, however, though his MP3 player still hung around his neck, there were no headphones there.

Either way, he makes his way over to the apartment, one hand tucked into his pocket and the other carrying a shiny little Christmas present tucked away in a bag.

It was only fair to give this to Izaya now, wasn't it? Minato thought so. And so he made his way up to the door of Izaya's penthouse apartment and quietly pulled his hand from his apartment to knock.

Knock, knock, knock.

When Izaya opened up the door, he didn't entirely expect...The Santa hat. And almost instantly, he began to laugh. How could he not?

"I never really took you for the hat top, Minato-kun! Nyahaha!" He stepped aside, still chuckling as he snapped the door shut just behind his house guest. Maybe it was the fact that it was a festive hat but at least Minato didn't look- too ridiculous in it.

"Ah, happy Christmas, Minato," Izaya added after a moment. Then, in a sudden gesture, he moved to envelope Minato in a surprisingly secure hug. Izaya couldn't remember the last time he really hugged someone. Well there was that girl but he didn't think that counted considering.

After embracing the boy, he stepped back and stared at him a bit emptily. "Would you like some hot chocolate or something?" he asked. Deep down, he was actually very excited that Minato was there. No one had ever wanted to spend the holidays with him before.

Minato blinked placidly at the laughter, tilting his head curiously, fluffy white ball at the end of the hat bouncing with his movements. It was rather clear he didn't understand--at least, not until Izaya's comment. He made a quiet 'ah', reaching up to touch the hat idly. And then he shrugged.

He never really minded what he wore, that much was true. Whatever worked at the time he would wear, and besides, it was the holidays. Festive spirit and all of that nice stuff.

The hug did take Minato off-guard--but he relaxed quickly, hugging Izaya back quietly until the other man stepped back. And only then did he say quietly, "Merry Christmas, Izaya-san."

He tucked one hand back into his pocket then (some habits were impossible to break), looking at the other man curiously. "Sure; that sounds nice." And then he glanced around the apartment, adding quietly, "The decorations look nice. Did you do all of this yourself?"

"Mmm...Do they really?" Izaya asked, sounding a bit surprised by the compliment. But then this was Minato. He wasn't Namie or anyone he typically spent time with. Minato was always kind. Izaya had half a mind to wonder if the kid even knew how to be mean. Izaya highly doubted it ( ... )
