"Mmm...Do they really?" Izaya asked, sounding a bit surprised by the compliment. But then this was Minato. He wasn't Namie or anyone he typically spent time with. Minato was always kind. Izaya had half a mind to wonder if the kid even knew how to be mean. Izaya highly doubted it.

"Thanks. And yeah. I figured it wouldn't really be Christmas without a Christmas tree or anything," he said and made a gesture towards it. At least it didn't look completely atrocious...

He headed off into the kitchen to fetch the hot chocolate and carried the mugs back out, handing Minato one with an optimistic grin.

"I hope it's good. I found a recipe with all sorts of Christmas food and stuff in it. Apparently it's supposed to be pretty nice," he said, conversationally as he blew at the surface of his own. Just as he was about to sip- he stopped.

"Right. Have a seat, eh?" he suggested, gesturing Minato to the couch. He invited himself to do so, making himself comfortable with an arm over the back and his feet propped up on his coffee table. This wasn't too bad. It was probably just how he'd spend the day otherwise but only with company. Something that made him pretty happy.

"I'm not really sure how this goes," he admitted, looking over at his tree before back to Minato. "I don't know if you want your gift now or-." He shrugged, feeling a lull of discomfort in his stomach. He probably shouldn't have really gotten him anything but it seemed right.
