For the most part, Inque had let the little monster invasion go on unchallenged. She certainly had no stake in the outcome, and some of the other residents she'd observed seemed quite capable of handling the situation on their own. Likewise, she'd been largely ignored by the creatures, in part due to the fact she was usually well hidden and also decidedly not flesh and blood. As a result, she didn't seem to register for most of the creatures, so long as she kept her distance...which is what she had been doing with this one, until some fool of a woman had to go and practically offer herself up on a silver platter.

While Inque had absolutely no reason to consider anyone living here a "friend," she also wasn't prepared to let one get mauled by the creatures. Or worse, eaten alive. Sure, she could handle death, she was even prepared to kill certain people herself, but there were certain kinds of death that she didn't believe anyone deserved. This was one of them, though honestly "death by monster" wasn't really something she'd ever ( ... )

"O-Of course I'm not!" Eruka's head whipped back and forth, so much so that the eyes on her strange hat started to go cross-eyed. "Ribbit! It came out of nowhere..."

Truth be told, it had caught her off guard. She hadn't realized things like this were roaming the streets because... well, mostly because she didn't actually have anyone she spoke to in Vatheon regularly.

Her eyes strayed to the messy remains of the creature. Inque had dispatched it so effectively and effortlessly that she was definitely intimidated...

"Who are you?"

I know how that is, no worries! inqueblots August 29 2011, 21:03:51 UTC
Well, at least she earned points for saying "who" instead of "what," Inque had to give her that much. Even if she was content to silently curse her and cast all sorts of blame her way for stupidly putting herself at such risk to begin with. In her mind, ignorance was no excuse, but she'd hold off on a lecture on the subject...for now. That weird frog noise she was making was definitely something for Inque to ponder about at another time. At the moment, there were more pressing concerns.

"Introductions are hardly important right now," Inque irritably responded, and if she had eyes to narrow in her current form, she certainly would. "You should get to safety before more of these things arrive. You've certainly made enough noise..." Well, it wasn't a full lecture, right? More like disappointed scolding, really. And she'd undoubtedly get more of it later at some point, not like Inque had anything better to do.

Embarrassment bubbles up in Eruka, just a bit. "It startled me, that's all! I-I could've taken one with a Tadpole Bomb without a problem!"

Which may have been true, if she could have made one. Not for the first time she tugged the ungainly collar.

Then her eyes widen as she spies a flash of scales. "B-Behind you!"

Kanaya had simply been passing through the plaza on her way home. Her temporary partner had already left, and it was really not safe to be patrolling alone.

The sound of shrieking was not to be ignored, and she jogged over to investigate.

"Are you significantly harmed?" Kanaya scanned the surroundings. Satisfied that it only seemed to be the one, she continued approaching with her chainsaw out.

"I'm not significantly harmed! Ribbit! I don't want to be significantly harmed!"

Eruka was looking back and forth between the monster and the strange person wielding a chainsaw like she was trying to decide which one was more terrifying... and so help her, she's edging towards the Black Lagoon reject.

Kanaya slowed her approach, watching the fish very intently for any sudden motions from it.

"...Could you perhaps move away from the scaled monster. They've attacked several, and don't seem conversant, and do seem consistently hostile."

The fish monster, seeing as how its snack was heading its way, is not inclined to making any moves which might scare it off.

Which Eruka is taking as a good sign.

"Yo-You're the one with a chainsaw! Not even Free carried a chainsaw!" she babbles.
