Eruka admittedly hadn't paid much attention to the curfew supposed to be in effect. She didn't have any real reason to go out wandering the streets at night and when she needed something, she wanted to be out during

While Inque had absolutely no reason to consider anyone living here a "friend," she also wasn't prepared to let one get mauled by the creatures. Or worse, eaten alive. Sure, she could handle death, she was even prepared to kill certain people herself, but there were certain kinds of death that she didn't believe anyone deserved. This was one of them, though honestly "death by monster" wasn't really something she'd ever ( ... )

Truth be told, it had caught her off guard. She hadn't realized things like this were roaming the streets because... well, mostly because she didn't actually have anyone she spoke to in Vatheon regularly.
Her eyes strayed to the messy remains of the creature. Inque had dispatched it so effectively and effortlessly that she was definitely intimidated...
"Who are you?"

"Introductions are hardly important right now," Inque irritably responded, and if she had eyes to narrow in her current form, she certainly would. "You should get to safety before more of these things arrive. You've certainly made enough noise..." Well, it wasn't a full lecture, right? More like disappointed scolding, really. And she'd undoubtedly get more of it later at some point, not like Inque had anything better to do.

Which may have been true, if she could have made one. Not for the first time she tugged the ungainly collar.
Then her eyes widen as she spies a flash of scales. "B-Behind you!"

"B-Behind you!"
Though not particularly concerned for her safety, the white eye swiveled around to the back of Inque's head anyway, just in time to spy a lunging fish creature. Unlike Eruka, she felt no need to cry out, and instead shifted her entire upper body harmlessly to the right. A few feet to the right; one of the many benefits of her "condition." She wasn't about to let the creature move on to attack the girl though, and quickly lashed out and coiled her arms around the creature's chest. She swung it against one of the many vacant buildings in the plaza with enough force to crack the facade, though still maintained her grip on the creature to keep its movement to a minimum ( ... )

"Is this better?" Inque asked, as gently as possible. While she was still considerably annoyed with the whole situation, that didn't mean she wasn't capable of hiding that displeasure. Instead she replaced it with a tone of almost motherly concern, and simply stood by with one hand resting on her hip as she waited for any sort of response. She didn't want to have to carry this girl, and it wasn't like Inque had a home of her own she could take her to (not that she needed one).

Eventually she's able to force a hoarse croak out, followed by, "H-How... did you..."

The witch slowly wobbles her way to her feet, though she looks ready to fall over again at any minute. Unconsciously she tries to brush off her dress, but it has creature gloop all over it now.
"I don't... remember what I came out for."

"Then it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Eruka. You may call me Inque," she replied, speaking as calmly and pleasantly as possible...essentially, the same facade she usually put on for potential employers. The only difference was, her lingering contempt was more out of frustration than any personal disgust for the person was dealing with. Sure, the girl definitely appeared to be foolish, but at least the inflated sense of self-importance her clients usually possessed was nowhere to be found.
"Unless it was sustenance, it's hardly important at the moment," Inque explained, "Do you have any friends who can take you to safety? Or family to pick you up?" Granted, Inque had yet to see any motorized vehicles in the city, even of the primitive and outdated wheeled variety, but it was a question worth asking.

"There's no one. I-It's all right, ribbit. I can get back now."
