Gamzee had just been wandering around Vatheon on a late walk, when the signs of magic had drawn his attention. Curiously, he had wandered closer, sedately, but when he saw who was tossing about all those spells, his posture changed slightly. He had never seen Selphie like this. It was kind of worrying. She was always so happy, so he was not quite sure what had happened to her to make her this upset.

He came closer, only stopping when a flicker of magic singed the tips of his hair. "Selphie? Hey sis, what's wrong?"

Selphie stopped herself immediately, eyes flying wide open to see Gamzee's hair almost on fire. That, and it had just given her a fright to see someone else there.

"Oh.. Hey Gamzee!" She flicked back into happy-go-lucky mode in a split second, "I'm okay... Just - uh, practising!"

Oh, he was not concerned about his hair at all. He has nearly set it on fire by doing less things. Selphie was his main concern here. And sure she had snapped into being all happy again, but his moirail was Wataru and his bestest buddy ever was Karkat and he knew some people just didn't act exactly like they were feeling at that moment for some reason.

"You sure, sis? You done looked like some shit got you all sorts of harsh." He's not trying to pry or needle, honestly. He just was worried about her.

"...yeah.." Selphie lowered her head and kicked at a stone with the side of her boot.

"...It's my fault own stupid fault though, Gamzee, so don't worry!" But she's still just staring down at her feet, digging up some grass with her toes.

He came closer until he stood in front of her, his head tilted down a little to look down at her, touching her shoulders. "You done sure there ain't no shit I could all fuckin' do for ya? If.. If you went and made some fuckin' mistake, that's cool, okay? We all fuck up sometimes. I'm here for a sister if she all wants to jam 'bout shit that went down."

Uh oh, Gamzee! Are you sure you really want to be offering that kind of niceness? Selphie lifts her face up to peek at him before shuffling forward - sometimes all the girl needs is a hug, and his hands on her shoulders was just too inviting.

"I died trying to protect my friends... and now the thing that killed me is gone... I feel so stupid..."

Oh please, if these is one thing in the world Gamzee loves it's hugs. When she shuffles forward his arms automatically drop from her shoulders to wrap around her in a great big bear hug.

"Really? Why has that got you all lookin' like your face is gonna be starting to leak soon, chica? Ain't it a miracle? You did something real amazing for your homies and if that motherfucker is all gone now, you ain't gotta have to be fuckin' scared 'bout it happening again."

Selphie latches onto that hug like there's no tomorrow. People shouldn't underestimate the power of hugs, especially on Selphie. She shows no signs of letting go any time soon.

"But... I didn't. I just died and everyone said I was being stupid. And now the thing has disappeared... I just look even more stupid. Like...I really died for nothing."

Gamzee frowned a little at that, tightening his arms around her a little. "Now who when around fronting that kinda shit at you, sister? Fuck, you shouldn't all be getting your listen up to that, okay? You died for your friends, yeah? That ain't nothing. That shit is done the most meaningful shit anyone can all do for another person."

Selphie blinked up at Gamzee, just looking at him for a moment or two before squeezing him tighter and reaching up to kiss at his cheek. Her own face might be a little wet from the tears - but Selphie had so so hoped that people might see it that way, but Gamzee was the first to suggest it.

Her kiss left a little smudge in his face-paint, but he hardly seemed to mind. Instead, when she pulled back, he caught her face between his gangly hands and wiped his calloused thumbs across his cheeks, wiping away the traces of tears. "Hey, hey, stop leakin', yeah? Don't let any motherfucker get to ya. You did all to make a miracle happen for your friends. And it is okay, if they can't all be seein' that. You gotta do what all feel right up in your heart."

Selphie closed her eyes hard as he touched her face, hoping that closing her eyes would stop the flow of tears. It works, but mostly because of Gamzee's help and his plea to have her stop crying. She smiled softly and nodded her head.

"Aww, yeah, there is that motherfuckin' smile at I like seein' way more on your face." He dropped his hands to pull her into a hug again. "Like, I all know your friends are fuckin' there for to be tellin' you what shit done makes you the best motherfucker you can all be hoping to be, but... sometimes it is also chill to just go with what your heart is all tellin' you you should be motherfuckin' doing, you know?"

Selphie smiled brighter still and was happy to hold Gamzee in a tight hug. "They all thought I was stupid... Some of my friends - some of them - some of them don't wanna talk to me anymore."

She lifted her face to look into his, as though looking for some kind of explanation as to why that might be.

That brought a frown to his face, his shoulders pulling tight. That situation sounded real familiar. It wasn't the same as his, hell no, Selphie wasn't a fuck up like him, but he still knew how it felt like to have some of your friends not talk to you.

"I'm really sorry, sister. I done know how that shit feel like. Don't think you can all do anything fuckin' thing 'bout it but wait for them to all find the forgiving in their hearts though."

Selphie gave a small sigh and took a few steps back from Gamzee. She kicked at the ground with the toes of her boots, digging more persistent with each tap.

"..this isn't fun. And now that the monsterjerk is gone... I look even worse. Like, they were right all along."
