Selphie had certainly noticed who was missing from the SFC. That creep - the one that had killed her friends, the one that had killed her. Disappeared. There was every chance that he could come back, but in the mean time, Selphie's pretty pissed. Sure, she

Then, he notices the bursts of....of something. Wait a minute - was that fire shooting through the sky? Suzaku's defenses shoot to the fore and he scrambles up, tense.
"Who --" He recognizes the hair - the curl and bounce of it so very recognizable. The girl's face that was once so cheerful when they first met amongst the stacks, looked frighteningly different...
Still, he approaches.
"...Selphie. Miss, is that you?"

She's breathing hard as she looks at him and finally manages to relax, "Oh! S-suzaku!"

"I'm not interrupting anything, am I? Pardon me if I do...it just..." Whatever he was going to say about the strange elements floating about is cut short.
Cue adorable headtilt.
"...You look exhausted. Something the matter?"

She bit her lip, ready to explain her answer to the question that he was about to ask. But then he did that oh so cute headtilt and she smiled softly, "...just..." Selphie took another deep breath, "...a little frustrated, I guess!"

"Quite a repertoire you've got there," he says, lifting his hands in that classic 'I'm unarmed' gesture. Then he folds his arms and leans against the nearest tree, running a finger along the trunk and inspecting the burn marks from those Fire spells she'd used earlier. "Not sure what the tree did to deserve it, though."

She lowered her nunchaku and her relaxed her shoulders, cheeks flushed from how hard she'd been working - that, and Vatheon takes quite a bit more energy than magic at home. She watched as he inspected the free and she suddenly felt rather guilty, pacing slowly to meet him.
"You're right... The poor tree..."

"I... wasn't being serious, Selph," he said, and then unfolded one arm to point to himself. "One thing you'll learn is that 95% of what comes out of my face isn't meant to be taken at face value, got it memorized?" And then he gestured at her nunchaku. "So you can actually use those things?" he asked, and whistled, folding his arms again. "Damn; sectional weapons are tough." He grinned. "I tried out a three-section-staff once," he said, and then knocked the back of his head against the tree. "Clocked myself so hard in the back of the head I was out for twenty minutes."
He regarded her sternly a moment, then concluded, "And if you ever tell anyone I told you that I will be forced to deny it entirely and then beat you up.
"So what's eating you, anyhow?" he asked without segue. He didn't know Selphie terribly well, but she read like a large-print book most of the time. It wasn't hard to tell she was upset about something.

"Okay, Axel. So long as I don't beat you up first." She was a little unnerved by his comment, and even though he'd just said something about face value, she still couldn't be entirely sure.
"Hmm? Nothing. Just...practising." She gave another flourish of her nunchaku, as though proving her statment; yup, she just looked angry as hell for...nothing.

"What ails you?" he inquired, his demeanor calm and composed.

He came closer, only stopping when a flicker of magic singed the tips of his hair. "Selphie? Hey sis, what's wrong?"
Reply
"Oh.. Hey Gamzee!" She flicked back into happy-go-lucky mode in a split second, "I'm okay... Just - uh, practising!"
Reply
"You sure, sis? You done looked like some shit got you all sorts of harsh." He's not trying to pry or needle, honestly. He just was worried about her.
Reply
"...It's my fault own stupid fault though, Gamzee, so don't worry!" But she's still just staring down at her feet, digging up some grass with her toes.
