[voice is coming from somewhere above her.]

Before that, you should probably get yourself dried. It would be a shame if you caught a cold, miss.

[just gives an idle wave of the hand.]

No worries. Finding yourself in a different world is already bad enough. Getting sick on the first day would be worse.

You can probably change in that store over there. The locals are rather lax about pretty much everything.

She shrugs. She was able to get the clothes in the first place without any trouble, so simply changing into them shouldn't be a big ordeal either. So she does what he says, coming out looking about as satisfied as you can expect her. It takes her a while to get used to the new clothes, but as she does, they pretty much slip her mind.

...she does need new shoes, too though, and after grabbing the best ones she could find that wouldn't restrict her dancing, she tries to change into them... and notices a strange mark on the heel of her foot.

...what? This wasn't here before...

She begins trying to rub it off, like it's just some dirt or a stain or something--even if she knows it won't work...

Hm? Oh that? Everyone has a mark like that somewhere on their body. Mine is on the back of my hand. [holds up the hand in question, but it's concealed by his glove.]

...so this is normal, too, then?

At that, she stops rubbing so much. It's not doing any good anyway. She simply stares at the mark for the moment, before placing her new shoes on her feet over it. She sighs.

I'm beginning to think I'm dreaming.

It certainly feels that way, particularly during the curse weeks. But you get used to it after a while.

Curse weeks? And what are those? What, does everything suddenly make sense for a week? Go back to normal?

Ugh, she's not really in the mood for any more surprises. But information, information is good. She has to ask these things.

It varies each time. Sometimes something will happen to us, such as obtaining new clothing or losing memories. Other times something will happen to the world itself and we have to deal with it. But it wears off after a week.

haha, timing of this explanation--perfect. kruehe June 6 2011, 20:01:23 UTC
Well. Isn't that lovely. It sounds like...

She pauses for a moment.

It sounds like you're speaking from experience.

I've been here for a while, so you could say I've acquired a lot of experience.

You're content with that? Surely you must want to go home, to your own world--your own time! Everyone here seems so...passive. So accepting of their fate...

She looks as though she can't decide whether this is a good or bad thing. Her she clenches one of her hands into a fist, looking around with uncertainty at everyone, happily taking their own choice of clothing from the store...

[there's a brief pause before he answers.]

Actually, I have been back to my home world once before. Only to return again, but it's probably for the best. I have a few friends here, and I wouldn't want to leave them behind.

It's true that we want to go home, but if possible we'd rather go home together.

I see. So you have ties here...

She pauses to consider this. She supposes she hasn't really thought about it before; the only one really that would give her a strong enough reason to stay is her precious Mytho. There really isn't anyone else she can think of who she really considers a true friend...

She smirks a little.

I wonder what that's like.

[that earns her a curious look.]

You don't have any friends?

W-well, not here!

She's flustered and quick to clarify, and...well, she's not technically lying. Rue did have more admirers than people she could call friends back at home, but he certainly didn't need to know that... right?

It seems I was the only one of my class who had the pleasure of this... little swim... as far as I can tell.

...she looks a little sad, though she doesn't notice it.

Ah, my mistake!

Though I'm sure that'll change soon enough. It's not too difficult to make friends here, especially since we all share the common bond of being stuck in an underwater bubble against our will.
