How exotic! They must be delicate to look after. How did you have space for a python? I was once considering taking some small pet snake, but then decided that I might be too afraid to take care of it. I'm not really scared of snakes but if I was going to have one as a pet, I would have had to be a little more confident about it. :P
Cousin It (the tarantula) was really mellow for a spider. He was very slow and calm and I'd take him out and let him sit on the bed next to me to watch tv and he's just find a spot and sit there. Never tried to skitter away or anything. He was awesome
( ... )
That's so sweet! He sounds more harmless than my rabbit, who sometimes watches TV with me too but mostly tries to nibble on the pillows... My spider phobia is just illogical. :)
Ah, all right. You can probably tell I know nothing about pythons! That's really interesting, I had no idea they could be such excellent pets. I knew people kept iguanas like that, but they're a little different, what with the four legs and all.
You seem like a REALLY responsible pet owner, not only with these two but also with the dog situation you hopefully got out of. Unfortunately more than what can be said for most people. I sometimes wonder whether keeping pets is ethical, but as can be seen even in my own life, my desire to have a furry companion weighed more than my ethical questioning. Out of curiosity, what was it that made you choose a tarantula and a python, and eventually a dog and cat - such different species?
I think snakes are intriguing, so I get it! Spiders - I can let them live in my apartment as long as they stay in their own corners and don't try to crawl on my desk or bed. :D
Just got back from Summer Breeze and there were all these (relatively little) spiders in the tents, it was all yucky! A friend of ours (a guy actually) was always yelling if he found one in his tent, and calling for Rik to remove it or kill it XD And apparently another friend of ours is even more scared of them, and he's this big, tall guy =P
One of the reasons why I don't like camping... But even spiders couldn't keep me out of tents completely. :) I can imagine the situation with your friend(s)! Must have been funny. Next time take a video ;) I always ask Orzel to get rid of spiders too when I see them, but if he's not around, I can bring myself to take a piece of paper and escort any unwanted visitors out.
