It's important to have strong relationships with devout Christians so they can help us grow in the faith, but it's absolutely ridiculous to shun someone because they're not a Christian. If this guy decides to ditch you, then just tell me and I'll reach over the Atlantic and give him a nice, hard slap across the face, the hypocrite.
perfect Christians don't exist That made me laugh. It's true, but in a way it's not. Christians admit that no one's perfect or sinless, but by becoming a Christian you're forgiven of your imperfection. So I'd think it's safe to say that, in a way, every true Christian is a perfect Christian according to Christianity, however much we may screw up. I suppose that's where a lot of us get our self-righteous attitudes- we forget that, as humans, we're still just as imperfect as the most sinful person on the planet.
Gah, if I only had Christian friends, I'd hardly have any friends at all. ...Which probably means I need to get some more Christian friends.
That's it, imperfection is somewhat perfect in Christianity... That particular aspect amuses me slightly. Christians practically have permission to be faulty, and that seems to be a good excuse, like you say, to be self-righteous. Of course it'd be rude generalization to think of this as some kind of a universal rule, so I do not, it's just the the potential. From a secular viewpoint - which is actually quite fair - Christians aren't any better (or worse, for that matter) than any others, if the same demand of following the rules of your religion is applied to everybody.
Perhaps! I think it's also important to have friends who share that part of your world view, even if it isn't necessarily the most essential thing in friendship.
