angst post aka I need to be a better person

There's a young racoon outside my window caught in a skunk trap. The poor thing is alternating between chittering and screaming, tumbling about, absolutely panicked and desperate to get out. I don't know how to open those traps. (They're made to be racoon safe, so they're tricky even for those of us weilding thumbs

Have you tried calling the cops, or animal control? They might know what to do to rectify the situation.

The company that laid out the trap will come get him tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, the poor thing is still crying outside my window, and he's? starting to sound downright desperate. His hackles are up enough that he's? twice his size and he keeps twisting and biting as though something were comming to get him. :(

He will probably be fine since the traps are supposedly designed to be humane. His biggest danger is likely being very scared and having to adapt to a new environment, at least so long as he isn't suspected of having rabies.
