It's a quarter of eight, and I'm already back from the food bank with Mb. She picked me up just after six, we got there and were in line to register by 6:30...we ended up being numbers 530 and 531. One of the volunteers who circulates and takes prayer requests said that when she'd arrived at 6, they were calling number 200, and they're expecting ( Read more... )

Ours is going to be quiet as well~ just hubby, youngest son and self.
I don't mind~ after being in the hospital and all of the medical crap of the last couple of weeks, I am happy to relax over the long week-end.

Uh-huh, health is definitely something to be thankful for! It looks like J is going to be in CCH over the holiday, and she's not happy about it. I haven't gone into all her woes for privacy reasons, but hopefully it will resolve some problems she's been having.)

A thousand every week is just staggering. But it sounds like you got some really nice stuff.

We are going to have a quiet, at-home Thanksgiving. Our sis-in-law is disappointed that we're not coming to her house, but it's a four-hour drive round trip and we're just really tired and want to stay home. I got a duck to roast (my guys love duck) and we'll have other festive side dishes that won't make me crazy cooking them. :)

Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving, hon. *hugs*

Mmmm, duck. Although I'll admit, the only duck I've ever had was at the Chinese Buffet. Good, though.

Yeah, I think I'd want to spend my first holidays in a new house at home, too.

Before I got the turkey breast, I was thinking of getting some ground turkey and making a strata-type casserole: stuffing on the bottom, a layer of sauteed turkey and topped with a layer of mashed potatoes. Serve atop a puddle of gravy, garnished with a slice of jellied cranberry sauce. I may attempt it for Christmas; I certainly have enough sides.

Blessed be!

Oh, yum! That's like a Thanksgiving version of shepherd's pie.

Duck is so fabulous. The bagger at Kroger asked me if it tastes like chicken, and I bit my tongue to keep from saying, "What's the point in that?" I get a bit ill-tempered this time of year. :D

Ding! That comeback made me cackle like a loon, which probably doesn't taste like duck either!

How was your Thanksgiving dinner? I didn't go crazy this year at all~ small turkey with some mashed potatoes, peas, rolls and cranberry. Made a homemade pumpkin pie with REAL whipped cream ( I insist upon that during the holidays!) and that was it. No big hooplah...fine with me. Just happy to feel healthy and have some down time from work.

Had a quiet day. Still haven't cooked the turkey, but had a nice lunch.
