*hugs* What do you have in the pantry that's suitable for hospitality -- baked beans, pasta salad, deviled eggs, maybe?

Tons of beans, pasta and corn, and a couple of cake mixes. I just need to get my act together. No deviled eggs, though. I need to make the eggs I do have, last.

This recipe looks good:

Zesty Southern Pasta and Bean Salad.

If you have canned pineapple and brown sugar in the house, it's easy to make a Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

I am going to get rid of my bottle-ware via recycling, too. As soon as I can.

The anger to throw things out... concentrate on a tiny little sliver and dig it through. And come on, usual plastic bags can be reused as trash bags! I do that ALL the time (unless there is a LAW against doing it in your neighbourhood?)

True. I have been donating my old grocery bags to the food pantry,, but charity begins at home.

Exactly! And what I read from the comments below, you can ask the cashier for extra FREE grocery bags?
Not so easy here: all the bags, even the plastic monstrosities, cost the buyer if they have not brought their own. ;)

I have been accumulating the good reusable kind, the trick is to remember to take them along. It does no good when I unpack the groceries and leave the bag sitting on the table instead of putting it out in my car or at least hanging it on the door.

Yank some of those cans out of the pantry- corn, beans, etc and make a big old cold salad. Protein without hurting the pocket book! Hospitality doesn't need to be a sit-down dinner.

Yeah, bean-corn salad is what it's looking like. Maybe a corn pudding on the side.

I have lots of grocery bags, but I'm spoiled. I'm used to the full-size bags.

Wow, that was good for a 12-Step flashback!

You're right, of course. Sometimes my middle-class suburban upbringing really shows!

Make a pile of the stuff that can bring in some cash and post on our local Craig's List. That way, there's no shipping involved- just customers picking up what they want to buy and you driving off with the cash. I meet them at a public place (never your home) and make the exchange.
Take pics with your digital camera and post at J's house. Couldn't be easier! They reply by email (via Craig's list posting ID ) so no one knows your identity.
We sold a table and chairs 2 weeks ago- guy drove from W Melbourne to get it. It's easier than Ebay and no fees involved. Just a suggestion! People are starting to look for holiday stuff and Christmas gifts.

I' ve also got LOTS of plus-size clothing and assorted breakable items that I'm chary of shipping. There's not a lot of high-dollar stuff, but enough nickel and dime stuff adds up.

I need to get rid of a lot of crap before I'll really know what I have. I was also at the post office the other day, looking at thosse "If it fits, it ships" boxes.
