Poor woman's timeshare....

This afternoon, I was at WalMart doing some banking, when I happened to wander through the Clearance section. Oh, summer clearance specials in Florida are A Very Good Thing. I found shorts at $5 a pair...my favorite pair of denim shorts gave up the ghost last month, and I've been feeling deprived. These are JMS brand, knit, and I gleefully popped ( Read more... )

Have a lovely time! First order of business - taking them dogs for a walk to calm them the heck down!

Yes, I agree! Another goal for my spa-cation is, I want to peel off a few pounds, and what's good for the schnauzers is good for the Fluffy. (I am *this* close to 300 pounds---haven't been under that in about 20 years!---and I'm really hoping to come home and get on my scale and have it display a number beginning with a "2"....)

Shoot, all those amenities and the beach nearby would be almost anyone's idea of a spa-cation. :) And Yay! for new shorts!

(I totally agree with you on No Sewing. Lack of basic skills keeps many people in this country poor.)

Lack of basic skills keeps many people in this country poor.

That, and planned obsolescence. "Do not attempt to repair this!" is stamped on everything, thus ensuring we either dispose of small things like toasters and microwaves, or run to a specialist---auto mechanics, plumbers, the Maytag repairman. It used to be guys fixed things. Now? Pfft! "Some assembly required" can send them into a panic.

I swear, I want a guy like my dad, who could do it all. *sigh*

Amen, sister! My dad was like that too. He had more work to do than time to do it in, so you had to be patient with him, but he could fix pretty much anything.

When I lived in Queens, I used to catsit in Manhattan, and it was thoroughly awesome. Very much like a vacation.

Have a great time!

I didn't know you lived in NY! I began life as a Staten Islander, but got transplanted at 13. Massive culture shift. Nobody here knew what bagels were, and they still don't know from cannolis.

Only one more week til season 6!!!

Yup, I lived in NYC for 20 years. Manhattan, then Queens. Unlike many NYers, I spent a fair bit of time on Staten Island, as I had a friend who lived in Eltingville, and I used to spend weekends with her.

Yay, 1 more week!

I grew up in Mariners Harbor. Bro lived on Upper West side for years and ended up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I forget which comedian it was who used to ask if anyone in the audience was from New York...there invariably was, and he'd ask, "What neighborhood?".

That sounds so nice! Enjoy your "vacation." (The clearance sale is great too - I once got a $60.00 black and white houndstooth checked skirt for $15.00. I loved that skirt.)

I love houndstooth, although it probably isn't the best look for me. Awesome score!

Alas, I no longer own a houndstooth check skirt that fits. In fact, that $60-for-$15 one had to be 100 pounds (and 20 years) ago; the more recent was at least 30 pounds ago, and I've given them both away. I think.
