What a pleasure it is to listen to a Presidential address and not be reduced to rage by the incoherence of the speaker! What a stirring experience to admire the articulate eloquence of our Commander-in-Chief. To actually applaud the points being made instead of snarling at the screen. Looking at him and knowing that the words were his own was HUGE. We have real leadership for the first time in so long! Maybe now the rest of the world will take us seriously.

Plus he pre-empted House, saving me from an hour of frothing at the mouth. Instead hllangel and I are having an Obama party. :)

His timing was absolutely brilliant---Heroes was right on schedule. Presidential squee followed by much Sylar squee. What a great way to spend a Monday evening!

DRAT! I had forgotten that was to be tonight!!! YouTube here I come.

And I agree about Regan. It was, I believe, during his term that the first really strong voices were raised about climate change, and they were ignored or called the raving of the lunatic fringe. If only more open minds had been in White House at critical points in the past.

Don't get me started on Reagan! I was talking with AI once about a book I was reading, detailing the search for a cure for polio and how FDR had started it, but the government had helped instead of regulating the effort to a standstill. She commented that if Reagan had taken the AIDS epidemic seriously from the beginning instead of dismissing it as a "gay" disease, thousands of lives might have been saved. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on a rack in the Hereafter...I can only hope.
