Thursday recap

Training yesterday was excellent. Of all the partner reps who come galloping in from time to time, Guido from Brand X is my favorite. (No, that's not really his name, but confidentiality is what it is.) I first met Guido my first week on the job, where I was hustled into his training class since I was going into apparel. I ended up sitting right ( Read more... )

LJ just ate the nice long thoughty comment I left, so here's the condensed version: The situation with Sam and Dean is starting to look really unbearably tense. The means to the end are getting blurry with demon-consorting Sam, and Dean has that threat of "if you don't behave, I'll send you back to Hell" hanging over his head. What if Castiel makes him an offer he can't refuse? *bites nails nervously*

Over the years, we've had conflict between the two of them, but it's pretty much been of the "agree to disagree" variety. Now, I think we're going to get into Conflict that's going to make Stanford look like a tiny tiff.

I also wonder how Sam is going to handle the idea that his mother made a deal that ultimately killed everyone he loves and left him connected to a demon for some purpose that's as yet unclear. (I don't think Dean has shared the "Lucifer walks free" game plan with him yet.) Dean's been in that situation himself, so I think he understands it better. Plus, he has a different, more pessimistic personality than Sam. It's going to be interesting to watch.

It's true that the actor playing Young John didn't have JDM's velvet-and-tobacco voice, but no one else does. It just goes to prove that JDM is one of a kind. :)

To be fair, Mary had no idea what she was getting into, and Dean's warning about 11/2/83 may have exascerbated the situation...IF, in fact, he really affected the events of the past.

Right now, my brain is set on spin-cycle; I'm going to be dissecting this ep all week. (And now, to work!)

So many details all pulled together and explained---it gives me hope that at some point, they MAY do the same with the Croatoan storyline---and filling in vast chunks of backstory.

While I did have some beefs with it - which I'll detail in my meta later today - ITA on filling in the backstory. This show could certainly use a bit more of that and JDM.

OMG, they did a helluva good job casting young John and Mary. "John" actually looked like he might grown up to be JDM. When he opened his mouth, though, the illusion was spoiled---he doesn't have the obsene-phone-call kind of voice of his predecesor.

Yeah, young!John...didn't work for me. I know he's supposed to be 10 years younger than in the Pilot, and the fact they had another young. different actress for Mary did help the realism a bit, but somehow....I don't know. He seemed pretty wimpy for an ex-Marine. Unless that came later?? *scratches head*

he idea that it was Dean who steered John to the Impala was very cool, and his comment, "My dad taught me everything I know about cars" ( ... )
