My dear, I assure you, there is nothing innate about it. I spent the first 16 years of my life wearing whatever my mother picked out for me, which was nothing special, since finding chubby clothes was a constant challenge. I wore whatever I could squeeze into for years. It wasn't until I was in my 20s and entered an all-too-brief period of relative thinness that I actually learned to appreciate clothes that FIT. (And after the thin phase had passed, it was another decade and a half before I got out of the habit of acquiring clothes solely because they fit and started to consider things like, "Does it look good on me? Where am I going to wear it? Do I like it?" I credit two things with my current level of clothes-horsiness: What Not to Wear and my job---which has been excellent for showing me what's considered fashionable at the moment. (But don't get me started on fashion versus style, because that's a whole 'nother issue....)
