Don't panic!

So, I'm on my way to work, and I stop in at 7-11 for a sandwich for dinner. Come out. Get in car, car won't start. It's not a battery sound, it's not a starter sound, no, it's silent, which in my experience means the alternator is about to cost me money ( Read more... )

Thanks. I'm dreading the thought that maybe it's time to start looking for another car. Wah!

The great irony with that paperwork is that my dad (also a Virgo) double-checked the flight my mom booked at Expedia, and neither of them noticed that she'd booked it for a week later than needed. Good thing I noticed. :)

The Palm has been very good for distracting me from all the sh!t that's been going on. (And that's without adding anything to it, and I haven't even started to play with the keyboard....)

I'm crossing fingers that it'll turn out to be so minor it's barely a hiccup.

First, I need to:

a) Get back down there to see if, by some chance, it took on water and will start when it dries out.
b) Get ahold of my mechanic and try to tow it back up here.

Any way you look at it, it's already costing me money from lost work-hours. Gawd, this is one fucked-up summer vacation....

Son, Ben, has an 06 Nissan Sentra for sale. Great on gas- payment is $250 per month thru Space Coast Credit Union. It's worth more than he owes but he'd like to get out from the payments since he's still in college---let us know before you start shopping (If yours turns out to be a big problem) Maybe we can work something out.
Hang in there!!

The trouble with that is finding $250 a month every month. (For how long?!) I have a feeling I'd manage 2-3 months and something would go wrong. Like trying to raise $1200 for my property taxes. I suspect I'll wind up at one of those buy-here/pay-here places, because my credit is crap. *sigh*

Be very careful of buy here/ pay here places- our neighbor got ripped off big time at one of the local Cocoa dealers.

You never know- SCCU will give you an answer in moments over the phone when/if you find a car that you want- Ben Jr had NO credit and he got a good interest rate AND they will defer payments for 90 days in some instances.

Don't be too hard on yourself and your credit score, esp in today's economy. You might be pleasantly surprised.

It was probably Easy Credit---a friend of my went through tons of drama with them.

If it's an '06, it probably has payments through when, '12? No way. I figure 6 months is my tolerance for payments, a year, max---IF it's not too big a payment. The car I have now is a 1990, which I've had since '04. I've never had a car *that* new.
