2005 - HayaRyu

Kame is walking aimlessly, mindlessly. He doesn’t know why he’s walking, but he knows he somehow has a destiny, one he knows he’ll feel safe in even in the middle of the night, so he keeps walking, the unforgiving drops of cold rain soaking his clothes.
He comes to a stop, halts in front of an apartment, senses a strange feeling forming on the pit of his stomach, but it’s not a bad one, it rather fights off the sickness, though adding to the lightheaded sensation.

Weariness is taking over his body and he slumps against the wall by the door, not bothering to knock or ring, nor having the strength to.
But the door swings open, like if it was awaiting his arrival. There’s Jin on the other side, no, Hayato. The faint blond highlights on the other’s locks that stick outwards are well visible.

“Ryu?” the other asks in a midnight voice, scratching the back of his head. Ryu is sure Hayato was sleeping, “I was having a strange feeling that wouldn’t let me sleep and it guided me to the door.”

How long had it been since he had last seen Hayato? When had the latter moved out of his father’s house?

“Hayato, I’m not feeling too well,” he hears his own voice echo and the other’s eyes widen.

Ryu is pulled inside with an insistent tug in his wrist. He can feel how cold he is by the way Hayato’s warmth radiates from his hand and is stolen by his own body which strives to keep him from freezing.

His wet clothes are soon scattered messily on the floor and he barely registers changing locations before warm water splashes down on his body and helps his temperature up.
There’s something that holds him down from focusing on something for too long. Hayato is helping him up, dressing him and then he’s already tucked under the covers, pulled snuggly up to his chin, soft and soothing.

“What’s wrong?” Hayato asks once he’s settled down beside him, looking him in the eyes, but Ryu avoids the intense stare.

He feels weak against it. He feels weak either way.

“Ok, let’s play a game, Ryu. We’re going to tell each other whatever we always wanted to, but never got the chance or courage to,” the older boy suggests, draws him closer in a familiar way and Ryu doesn’t protest, doesn’t say a word, “I start.”

“I hate how you’re always so fucking silent and don’t tell me a shit about what’s going on. Would it have been so difficult to tell me what was going on with Ara high and Take and all that shit?”

“Hayato, don’t start with that…”

“Shut up. It’s part of the game,” Ryu regards him with a glare that Hayato promptly ignores.

“Aren’t I your best friend? Why do you always keep things to yourself, you idiot? I know I’m not the best example of help but damn, I could do something. It’d have at least spared us all the fight and your fucking leave from school. Just tell me, Ryu,” it sounded almost like a desperate plea, something he would never hear from Hayato’s mouth, but for a second, Ryu let himself believe that was what it was.

“I’ll tell you how you’re a fucking prick, always thinking about yourself, doing things on your own and not realizing how people care about you. Stop doing things so recklessly. You also keep your mouth shut about a lot of shit and I’m not complaining, you bastard!” Hayato almost flinched at the accusations, but kept his mouth shut, listening to the younger boy to the end “What would it be of you if you hadn’t gotten us to watch your back? Stop being so fucking selfish!” Ryu takes a deep breath “I’ll tell that I’m…I…”

Hayato sees him hesitate. Ryu had never been one for words, had he? The older boy seems to be pondering, his eyes unfocused and unwavering.

“Let’s play this other way, then. I’ll tell you a story, then you have to tell me one too, but make sure you listen well,” the golden-haired boy looks at Hayato in confusion, arching a questioning eyebrow.

Hayato paid him no attention and just started narrating “There was this guy,” Hayato starts in his own messy way, a story that seems, to Ryu, to have no sense at all or relation with their situation “He had a cat. One day, they separated. The owner searched and searched, desperate to find his cat that was so precious to him, but the miles or the places didn’t matter, because the cat didn’t seem to want to be found,” he flicked his eyes between Ryu and back to the distance before continuing.

“When the owner thought the cat would never come back to him, it appeared by his doorstep. He could hear him from still far away, calling out to him, desperate for help, but no matter how loud or for how long the cat mewled, the owner couldn’t understand him. Nothing seemed to satisfy the cat and the owner was getting desperate himself. It was impossible to understand it, even though the cat was so precious to the owner, the cat would always be a cat and the owner would always be a human. Their differences kept them apart and the cat would leave without the owner having the chance to understand what distressed the cat so much to have him run back to him.”

“Tell me, Ryu…what can I…he do to understand the cat?” Ryu bites the inside of his cheek, exhales a soft, shaky breath and forces his voice not to waver before the tears spill “I’m dying, Hayato.”

At that moment, time seems to stop when Hayato’s expression changes to one he has never seen before, an odd mix of pain and grief. There’s nothing he can do to change it, after all, their differences force them apart.

Everything gets blurred by a strong flash and then the first thing he sees is Hayato. A different Hayato. A Hayato without Ryu.

The boy is standing by the entry of his house, door open ajar and he pushes it fully open as he sits down, back against it, one leg stretched on the floor and other bent by the knee. He’s eating something that looks like a tangerine, the sun is setting, the orange rays of the afternoon covering Hayato’s hair with blond highlights he doesn’t have any more.

A cat approaches him with feline elegance, climbs gently with its little front paws onto Hayato’s lap and the latter lets it lick his fingers clean of the sweet fruit juice. The cat doesn’t seem like he has had much to eat in all his life seeing his bones stick out even through the fur.

Hayato pets the animal’s head affectionately “Good Ryu,” he says, looking down at the cat, and when he looks up again, there are unshed tears shinning on his eyes as he looks into the distance, the sun just a little dot in the horizon.
The cat curls into a ball on Hayato’s lap and prepares itself to sleep.

Kame opens his eyes and realizes he’s in his room, lifts the covers off his body and shivers to the cold air evolving his body. Jin has his bare back turned to him and is kneeling on the floor with only his boxers on. He recalls the older boy coming to his apartment the night before to wish him a happy birthday before everyone else and they had soon fallen asleep, tired after work.
It was all a dream. It’s Jin, not Hayato.

“Jin, what are you doing this early in the morning?” he asks, trying to stifle a yawn in the middle of his sentence. They would have to wake up soon anyway. There’s Gokusen filming.

“I’m looking for your present,” the older boy says without looking back at him.

Kame frowns, “Don’t tell me you lost it.”

“No, actually, it ran away,” Kame knits his eyebrows and his frown turns into a pout at Jin’s stupid jokes in the morning when he’s not even fully awake.

Then there’s a rattling sound coming from the kitchen and his lover runs fort to the same division of the house. Kame blinks in confusion, throwing sideways glances at the kitchen in hope of seeing what’s going on without having to get out of bed.

Jin comes back with his hands behind his back, stepping up to him cautiously, and somehow Kame fears something mischievous.

“Here’s your birthday present. Happy B-ow, ow, ow,” Jin is forced to cut his own sentence “Don’t scratch my back, you little punk!” the older boy curses, but extends his arms to Kame anyway, holding a small orange kitty with big, beady, green eyes, “Happy Birthday!” Jin says again, this time without interruptions as Kame accepts his present.

The kitty looks up at him with such innocence that he doubts such thing can do as much as scratch someone, but maybe it just wanted revenge for something Jin did. He immediately takes a special liking in the orange ball or fur “I'm naming you Ryu.”

2006 - KuroDa

“Kame, hurry up. I made the reservations for 8pm and there’s only 10 minutes before the clock strikes 8,” Jin says, fumbling with his tie with trembling hands. For some reason, he is nervous, but he can’t help it. Jin wasn’t made for formal attires and it kind of reminds him of his role in the drama Anego.

“Sorry, I got carried away surfing and forgot about the time,” Kame yells from the other room.

Jin curses the tie and pulls it loose again, starting to get irritated, until a pair of hands come to his aid “Why are you so nervous, Jin? It’s not like you,” Kame chuckles, straightening the tie, and Jin mutters a low ‘thanks’, not answering his lover.

“Are you ready to go?” Jin asks, placing a simple kiss on his lover’s forehead before putting on the slightly uncomfortable and polished shoes.

Kame is clad in much more informal clothes, but it was Jin who insisted they wouldn’t both go in suits. Besides, his lover looks much sexier in casual clothes.

It’s a ten-minute drive to the fancy restaurant and Kame almost expects Jin to have rented the whole place just for them, seeing his boyfriend so nervous, but it seems they’re in a more secluded place, away from the rest of the people so they can’t spot two idols having dinner together. Rumors are already enough, and they make sure to be careful.

Kame’s face lightens up to the romantic atmosphere - candle lights and everything, and Jin even pulls the chair for him like some classic gentleman.
He smiles and sits down gingerly, giddy about what other surprises Jin reserved for him, but trying not to make his lover even more nervous than he already is.

Jin prepared dinner well; he mentally congratulates his lover when the vintage wine arrives to their table. After all, Jin had promised him an unforgettable day, or rather, night.

They eat with light chat and shadowed smiles so no one notices their feelings and the real importance of being there with each other.
Kame guesses that the foreign eyes on them, is what bothers him so much. They had never celebrated his birthday outside, anyway, always keeping the special moments in a closed world of their own, where they’re able to show affection and no one will criticize them.

“You don’t need to be so nervous,” Kame whispers, placing his hand down on Jin’s, but the latter jumps in surprise and pulls his hand away.

“S-sorry,” the apology is fast when he sees Kame’s hurt expression and massages his leg against Kame’s under the table where no one can see.

When they’re done with dinner, Jin fumbles with his black coat, producing a dark blue velvety box, stretching his arm in Kame’s direction before reaching his other trembling hand to open the small box.

For a second, Kame thinks Jin’s going to propose to him, but the boy isn’t on his knees and…he doesn’t think his lover has gone that mad.

But when the box opens, all he spots is a shiny, turtle-shaped earring. A wide smile makes its way to his face and he almost sighs in relief.

“Happy Birthday, Kazuya,” Jin declares in a chirp voice.

“Thank you. For moments, I thought you were going to propose to me,” Kame voices his thoughts and laughs.

“Wha-?” Jin, surprised and slightly jumpy like he has been all dinner, hits the table, causing the wine glass to tumble and spill its contents on the table and his white, neat shirt.

“Shit,” he curses, jumping to his feet. It’s too late to do anything, and the best he can do is try not to ruin dinner even further “I’m going to wash my shirt in the restroom before it stains,” Jin excuses himself.

Once inside the bathroom, he sighs, bracing himself on the sink, head hanging low and massages his temples in frustration before turning on the water from the faucet to wash his shirt.

“Hey, are you ok?” Jin hears a sudden voice coming from somewhere close to his ear and twirls around to be faced with his lover “I asked for some stain remover. Let me see it,” Kame said, shaking the product in his hand and analyzing the wine stain on Jin’s shirt.

“Sorry for ruining your birthday.”

“You didn’t ruin anything, Jin. It’s kind of fun to see you so nervous, actually,” Kame jokes.

“Thank you. I’m glad you’re enjoying seeing me frustrated,” Jin says bitterly.

“I was joking, Jin. Don’t be like that,” Kame tries, but not seeing any reaction from his lover, he kneels down, lifting the shirt with a shade of purple, up.

“What are you doing?” Jin questions, but there’s no answer and the younger boy only traces a slick pat with his tongue from his navel to the rim of his pants.

“Hmm, you taste like wine. Very good wine, I must say,” Kame comments and is thrilled to watch the change in Jin’s breath, the latter’s chest heaving rapidly.

Kame undoes Jin’s pants, pulling them down until they pool around the latter’s ankles “Kame, I didn’t wet my pants, you know?” Jin tries, attempting to talk his lover out of what Kame’s about to do, throwing glances at the unmoving door, because really, it’d mean real trouble if they’re caught right now.

“I know,” Kame grins, biting the edge of Jin’s boxers and pulling the tight material that confines his lover’s cock, down.

“What if someone comes?” Jin tries again, though he doesn’t have enough will to push Kame away.

“Isn’t it thrilling?” and Jin groans when the younger boy takes him into his hot and wet mouth.

He throws his head back when Kame sucks loudly and bites the inside of his lips to stop himself from releasing a loud moan he wants to vocalize when the skilled tongue works on his shaft.

Unconsciously, his hand grips Kame’s hair, pushing the boy against him and causing his lover to almost choke as he’s forced to deep-throat him, but the feeling is so gratifying that he loses himself in it. Only a strong squeeze on his hips brings him back to reality, he lets go of Kame and the latter gasps in much needed air before continuing servicing him.

This time, Jin’s more conscious, more caring and gentle, tries not to push Kame too far and racks his fingers through the silky long brown locks as the other keeps pleasuring him.
Then the warmth surrounding his shaft leaves him, replaced by cold air and he fights the protest back down his throat.

Kame trails kisses all the way up his abs, chest, neck until he takes his lips “Want” Kame manages between two kisses “you” Jin kisses him again, silencing him as their tongues play “inside…Jin.”

“I didn’t bring any lube with me. And people will think it’s weird if you walk out of here limping, right?” Jin offers.

“What the hell happened to the ‘I’m always well prepared’?” Kame pouts.

“Well, excuse me for forgetting we were going to have sex in the restaurant. I thought we were just going to eat” Jin says with concealed irritation.

Kame’s about to retort when the door cringes and they both freeze. The first option is run to the closest stall, so they do, with Jin almost tripping on his own pants and falling down, but they manage to get inside without anyone seeing them.

Jin’s too focused on the noises outside and an unstrained moan escapes his lips when Kame grinds against him.

“Shit…there’s no way they didn’t hear that,” Kame whispers in a way only Jin can hear, but they laugh at the end of the sentence.

Jin’s fast to unshackle Kame’s belt, unzipping and unbuttoning the pants until they’re around his feet like Jin’s and the boxers soon join them. He backs the younger boy against the wall of the stall, which only takes him a step to do so in the cramped insides.

And then it’s a mess of hushed moans into each other’s mouth, clumsy hand-jobs as they grind and rub desperately against each other in search of release. They share open-mouthed kisses and pump their members with no set pace until they reach their climax and slump tiredly against the wall.

“To be continued,” Kame whispers in Jin’s ear, wiping the sticky mess on his stomach “at home,” he completes.

Dinner proves to be even more amusing after that, with Jin even more nervous and anxious to get home.
It’s indeed unforgettable.

2008 - Miroku/Kousaku

”Where are you taking me?” Kame yells, afraid his voice won’t reach Jin’s ears when they’re riding the loud motorcycle.

“It’s a secret,” Jin yells back.

The weather is kind of chilly and it’s starting to get late. The sun is setting, but that is the only time they found to be together. Kame has been busy with shooting and even yesterday he wasn’t given the day off.

They arrive to the beach. There’s a narrow wood pier that extends their path through the sea and Kame has the faint idea of having seen that place before.
Jin stops his motorbike and hops down, running on the sand and through the bridge like some excited kid, and Kame follows him slowly, until Jin halts, arms stretched wide to his sides.

“Happy Birthday!” Jin screams at the top of his lungs and Kame smiles genuinely.

“Then where’s my present?” he asks, striding closer.

“I am it. No good?” the older boy ventures.

Kame makes a thoughtful face, Jin pouts and he immediately laughs, running to his lovers open arms, hugging him tightly.

“You forgot to buy me a present, right?”

Jin scratches his nose and answers embarrassedly “Sorry, I didn’t have much time and I didn’t really know what to get you,” Kame shakes his head. It’s ok.

They sit on the small bridge, looking at the yellow sky with specks of grey and red mirrored in the water.

“I can’t believe you really forgot to buy me something,” Kame comments.

“Ok, here,” the younger boy accepts what the other hands him only to realize it was eyeliner.

“Jin!” he threatened pain with his tone of voice.

"Make sure this time you do both your eyes," Jin dared further.

"You've got some nerve telling me that when it was your fault after dragging me to an empty room and having your way with me, telling me I looked hot."

"You do look hot with eyeliner!" he reasoned.

"Just with eyeliner?"

"With eyeliner, without it, every day of your life."

They kissed and kissed again, the beautiful sunset behind them and the night ahead.

“I love you,” Jin confessed and Kame leaned his head against his lover’s shoulder, whispering something.

The best present ever.

A/N: I believe my a/n are pretty fruitless, but I advise you to read this one, k?
This came to my mind and it wasn’t really supposed to be three different years, but three different ways. I guess when I started writing, it made a lot of sense to be in 2005/2006/2008 (no 2007 because Akame weren’t together).
1st - it's slightly confusing, no? I wasn't sure how to write it. It was a dream and dreams don't make much sense. Anyway, to sum it up, it was Kame dreaming but once in a dream, things don't make sense and he totally sinks in Ryu's part, then the things that don't make sense even to himself like about Hayato having moved out from his father's and such, quickly disappear from his mind because sometimes we try to reason certain stuff in dreams but they are weird of their own and it quickly flees our minds, and we only realize it was totally senseless when we wake up. And to make sure you got it, Ryu died in the end (dream), that was why Hayato was alone. I decided to put it as a dream so no one would get depressed *runs* And I hope I haven't made any mistakes because it's supposed to be only from Kame/Ryu's POV since it's Kame's dream :D
2nd - I realize it was a little before Kame acted on Sapuri (more specifically 3 and a half months), but he was learning how to surf already. I realize idk how long before they start preparing themselves for the dramas but like boxing, surfing, he had to learn quite a while before the drama started, ne? ^__~ And I remember he said once he had met Cameron Diaz when he was surfing...I'm not sure, but I think it was a while before Sapuri too.
I realized even the wine was a coincidence after I wrote it XD
3rd - The place Jin took Kame it's the same he and the girl went to in Yuukan Club. You know the first episode? Yeah, that one ^^
I think everything was explained :D
Ok, hope you guys have liked it…and it’s still Kame’s b-day *is not too late* XD
Comments are much appreciated like always :D

happy birthday!!!, fic, kame, always on my mind
