I would *so* buy an Avon and Vila pair! Let me know when you've figured out pricing. Smaller would be better than larger because of international postage. But SO MUCH LOVE.
(I'd go for a Jamie too!!! If the kilt wasn't an issue...]
Mmm, you're in Australia, right? I can definitely see how smaller would be better in terms of shipping. I will let you know. I hope to try to make a Jamie too, though I am undecided how to go about his kilt, yeah. Making it of red clay and then painting it when dry might be the best option, though my painting skills suck a lot, so we'll see.
But definitely an Avon and Vila are possible. :D (Or other characters. I'm just sort of addicted to these two, ahahaha.)
I think Travis would be a lot of fun to make, and they have totally different outfits, so that could at least make up for getting both. Servalan, oh man! I just recently drew her as a chibi. It'd be really interesting to see how she'd come out in clay. I'm not sure how I'd manage her hair. Ahahahaha.
I know how you feel though. I sort of want a proper set of all of the main cast. But I'd be just as happy making them for others, too. Besides, if I make and sell them, I could actually afford to buy more clay! :D
Awwww, Avon in his red lobster suit! And cute smiley Vila! They're adorable and they turned out really well! AND TWO OF EACH! Teleport malfunction!
I don't think you need to worry about clothes matching; who knew what they wore when we weren't looking at them! ;-) I chose my favourite outfits for my pipecleaner crew regardless of episodes.
I do think you should sell B7 figures! I'm sure you'd get lots of takers! I'd be one except I'd worry about them coming so far. :-P
Ahaha, you make a good point! Like that fic I wrote for you, where Vila wore his brown suede and Avon his lobster, which they never did in TV canon. XD I suppose it's just luck of the draw that Avon and Vila wear my favorite of their outfits together several times. XDXD
I wouldn't be too worried about them breaking, if that's what you mean. Shipping costs to NZ might be pricey though. They're not terribly heavy, but it might be more than they're worth. I'd have to look into it. Like I said to cassiphone, smaller might be better for overseas. Then again, the weight difference might be negligble considering.
Yeah, freight's a killer. Small would be harder for you to do too, and probably wouldn't make much difference by weight as you say. And besides, I should have a go myself!
Maybe once you've worked out what you'd charge--and what the air freight would be (surface just isn't worth it), I'll make up my mind. I'm poor too. :-( I'm even wondering if I could try to sell jewellery, but I couldn't afford the advertising.
Yeah, freight is a killer, and I think they've stopped shipping surface mail at my post office, so that might not even be an option. If they were significantly bigger, the weight might factor in, but losing an inch or two probably doesn't make much difference. Maybe if you bought more than two at a time, but even then, you'd be buying more so naturally the weight would go up.
But you SHOULD try making your own too. Advertising is a bitch, I agree. But maybe on ebay or something would be possible? I don't know. My friend awakesoon makes and sells jewelry, but she really goes for it with a website and doing shows and everything.
Ahahaha, thank you. I think I might do, though since I HAVE Trek toys, I'm less inclined. I have to see what other characters I can do with the colors I have. XD
These are even better than the first attempt (although I do love the "dynamic" of the original twosome). Avon's hair is particularly good.
Perhaps you could make Vila's yellow cape and gauntlets out of that yellow plastic-y scrapbooking paper. It'd probably be about the right weight, but be removable "accessories". I'd suggest you could even make one of those roach-y ponchos that way for Avon, but I hate that thing.
I'm not even an action-figure, fannish collecting kind of person and I'd be tempted by these. If the second pair are an inch taller, they must be quite small.
Thank you! I was pleased with Avon's hair too. I really love the hands-on-hips and crossed-arms pose of the other ones, but I think they're too small and too . . . well, first-creation-looking to work. I'm sure when I recreate them bigger, with my new knowledge of how to put stuff together, they'll look much better. I fully intend to recreate those poses, even if they're hard as hell to do. XD
I do like the idea about the gaulet/cape stuff, but I'm not sure it'd work due to the way the clay sticks together (like Vila's hand is fused to his hip, etc.) It's not THAT big a deal, but it might be fun to look into.
I'm going to try to make some non-B7 characters next, I think. That'll probably entice more people, ahaha. Anyway, this set are both about 4" tall. Little Avon is about 3.5" and little Vila is about 3".

I thought about that after I posted. Perhaps you could make the gauntlets out of clay and the cape separately. It would "hang" better than clay - although those capes didn't really "hang" - but it would not hang in the same sticky-out way.
How much would you charge for a little Red Scharlach? Because he's fearsomely cute. Although the rose mask is really very fussy.
I'll probably just make it all out of clay. It wouldn't be hard to deal with the gaunlets out of clay, I'd just have to put them on the arm before I attached the arm. If that makes sense.
I know nothing about Red Scharlach, so I'd have to study the costume, etc., but as it looks like a suit and head piece and all red/peach/black, I'm thinking maybe $20 + whatever shipping costs?

Yes, it's worked better this time around.
And you should totally have a go at Spock or McCoy for the lulz.
