Fantastic! Back when we cancelled cable, one of the first things I did was d/l all the seasons of No Reservations. Love it. Haven't read any of his books, though.
I haven't either, and I actually haven't seen a good number of his shows, but what I have seen I've loved. My favorite one to date is when he went to Saudi Arabia, because I thought it was such a fresh, open view on a culture and a country that I think even the most liberal and kind-hearted of us dismiss too easily.
eat the first piece of sushi with your hands, for reasons that I'm sure are very good but that I don't remember
I want to say it's something to do with body temperature, but I have no idea why I want to say that 8/
The rice thing is very interesting though! Haha, I'm not really sure if I like sushi or not. I've always wanted to like it, I love seafood, but I've never liked any sushi I've had--but I've never had good sushi. So I don't know. Delaying judgment until I've had actual sushi, not that packaged crap you get at stores.
I know, right? ♥ I'd marry a guy like him someday, just so I could hear him talk about food all the time.
Maybe? I don't know. I don't pretend to understand the convoluted ways of Japanese culture and tradition.
You know, same here. I never really liked sushi until my dad took me Sushi Muramoto here in town and it was amazing. He even got me to eat sashimi and it was fantastic (another note, by the way, the sushi chefs could give a damn about whether or not you like their fish. Everybody can get good quality fish). I find that sushi from organic grocery stores like Whole Foods tends to be a bit better than the stuff from normal grocery stores, usually because sushi companies actually rent space from them and make it on site, but yeah. I would say if you like seafood, scoping out a good sushi restaurant is definitely worth the effort. Plus if you exercise some self control and only get one or two kinds of rolls, it's actually not that expensive.
