Roses Intertwined
“Chaos, Panic, Disorder, my work here is done.” A grinning Kaitou Kid looked down on the scene of his latest heist from a nearby rooftop. Just as he turned to leave a crimson rose impaled itself into the concrete accompanied by a guitar riff from nowhere.
“That's far enough Moonlight Magician.” Deep shadows parted to the click of castanets as a figure in black stepped into the silvery light. A black mask obscured the young man's face and a second rose was held at the ready by the dashing well-dressed figure. “I have a question to ask you, one professional kaitou to another.”
Professional? Guy steels my tuxedo and rose bit and he wants to ask me a favor? “So sorry to disappoint, but I have somewhere else to be.” Kid tossed a witty smile to the copy cat as he stepped to the edge of the roof in preparation to take flight.
Before he had moved more than a step, Kid found a strong arm wound around his waist pulling him flush with a solid athletic body. Heat suffused the white-clad thief's body as his dark mirror neatly captured the here-to-fore uncatchable. Gloved fingers tilted his chin up and he stared into brilliant sapphire orbs framed by black satin.
“I'm searching for something,” the throaty voice whispered. Nothing could have pulled Kid from the other thief's captivating presence. “It's a gem. The Imperium Silver Crystal.” The velvet voice spoke of what it sought with such reverence that Kid felt it touch his very soul. Desire awakened within the Moonlight Magician; a need to find this Crystal and bring it to the fey creature before him. “Tell me, have you heard of it?”
“No,” whispered the mesmerized Kid. The obvious disappointment his statement caused cut like a knife into the magician. “Wait. Tell me about it. Perhaps in the future I will come across it,” Kid beseeched. Anything to bring happiness back to those despairing eyes.
“It is a brilliant stone that shines in the darkness. It's the key to my past and will lead me to the one I'm seeking. The one who can tell who I really am.” A flash of jealousy hit Kid as he thought of his captor in the arms of another.
“Look at me,” the magician's determined voice brought the masked thief's attention back to the present. “I will make you a deal. I will look for this Crystal of yours, but you must promise me that you will live in the here and now from this moment on. Your past is important, but don't let it take away your future with thoughts of what might have been. Live each day, each moment to its fullest.” Boldly the smaller thief leaned up and captured his companion's lips in a fierce kiss. The world seemed poised with in-drawn breath waiting for a response, then with a groan the masked man gave in to his desires and plundered the sweet lips below him.
Light seemed to fill Kid, drawing his ardor higher as he allowed the other thief to take the lead. Soft pants spilled from his lips as his unnamed companion explored the contours of his cheek and the breadth of his jaw, tracing lazily down to the column of his throat. Silk hats went tumbling and the magician bit back a moan as teeth nibbled and sucked at his collarbone. Gloved fingers danced nimbly across buttons revealing pale skin to caress.
At the edge of Kid's awareness finely honed thief's senses prickled reminding him of the dangers of making out so close to the scene of his recent heist. The wind carried the faint sound of whirring helicopter blades; shouts and flashes of torch beams still drifted up from ground level. With an annoyed groan Kid pulled away from his blue-eyed haven. “It seems my pursuers have not yet given up their chase.” The masked thief blinked as if suddenly realizing where he was. Kid pulled the object of his desire closer as he worked to straighten their clothes to something more presentable for two debonair gentleman thieves. “I'm sure we can find a more suitable location for this tête-à-tête away from prying eyes.”
Smoldering sapphire gazed into fathomless amethyst and a debouched smirk stole across the black-clad thief's face, “Of course.” One last lingering kiss and moments later hats firmly in place the two thieves disappeared, swallowed by the shadows of the night as phantoms on the wind.
Author's notes:
For those who might not have caught it or never read Sailor Moon, Mamoru aka Tuxedo Mask is an empath. This is obviously early on in his search for the Crystal, and he doesn't realize he's influencing Kaito with his gift.
Discarded plot bunny: Kaito is Princess Serenity reborn as a guy instead of a girl. [Shudder] Not touching that with a ten-foot pole.
