"Jii-chan, I'm home! I'll be upstairs!"
"That's fine Yuugi."
He sounded happy, but it's so hard to tell now. There's just static; his emotions used to fill the house, bubbling with joy or weeping with sorrow. Now just nothing.
He's not doing it on purpose of course... well actually he is. He's learned how to shield his mind to protect himself. With psychos like Pegasus out there he's had to.
But I don't think he realizes that I can see the difference in him, or that it hurts feeling like he's pushed me away. If he knew he'd feel terrible and I don't want that. It's a natural step in following his destiny and learning to control his magic.
Even so, I can't wait until the time when he trusts himself enough to come to me and tell me his secrets. When he trusts his belief in magic enough to come ask me about the wards I know he can feel on the house. And when he trusts me enough to know I'll believe him when others wouldn't.
