Like many fans I was saddened to hear of the death from cancer of the wonderful Diana Wynne Jones, and frostfox has already posted the lovely obituary to her written by Christpher Priest and published in yesterday's Guardian:

On Monday I had an idea. I've been telling myself all week that it's a very silly idea, and I don't have the time. Especially as I'm working on something for the nMC to perhaps, maybe, perform at the 2013 filkcon. But...

So on Sunday we had an nMC rehearsal. The newly repaired doorbell worked, and no-one was left stranded on the doorstep. Of course, I can't comment about anyone knock-knock-knocking on Heaven's door... :) little_cinnamon delivered the duck from pinguintante, and it now occupies pride of place in my bathroom. The dishwasher started playing up very badly yesterday, and this morning we found that the crockery we had put in to wash last night was still greasy. So D phoned around, and someone is coming to fix it on Wednesday ( Read more... )

Yesterday's nMC rehearsal was nicely relaxing. We sang what people fancied singing, and we looked at two new pieces. One was in Welsh. Well, mostly in Welsh. Except for the bits in Latin, Swahili and Greek...

The other was in Phrygian. That's a mode, not a language. It was interesting and challenging.

And we set the dates for the coming year's

Had a good nMC rehearsal yesterday, singing through the whole of our set. And as it was our last before the Filkcon, we opened the now traditional bottle of ice wine - courtesy of little_cinnamon and djbp who had brought a bottle back with them when they went to FKO. Nice stuff, thank you both.
