I know! >_< The best part is... I can feel it dripping. Eeeeeew. It's like I really need to hack a loogie, but instead of a loogie it's my tonsils of death! (That's my new favorite TMI description of what's going on. Hahah) Yum yum yum.
yeah I had strep a while back...and then at some point in time this summer I had a virus that had been going around that presents like strep but it turns out there's nothing you can do about it except lie around and moan. THAT was fun.
EWW, that sounds like the worst thing ever! Since she didn't actually take a culture, and just decided it was strep by the symptoms and the way it looks, let's hope it actually IS strep so I'm not taking these antibiotics for nothing...
whether its strep or not, if it hurts too much you can get a vicodin prescription from cowell. a year ago i had really bad tonsilitis, and i couldn't eat for 5 days....so i got vicodin.
Weird. Did your doctor do a throat culture before giving you the antibiotics? Usually if it really is strep, you would usually feel better really quickly after starting the antibiotics :( If you're taking them and it's something viral instead of bacterial (which is what strep is- it's not a virus), it could actually do more harm than good, killing off the good bacteria that fights the virus.
Sorry you're feeling crappy. Hope you feel better soon.
It's day 2.5 of the antibiotics, and I still feel awful. I figure if I don't feel at least a little better by tomorrow, I'll call them and go "wtf mate". She didn't do a culture, which I thought was weird, but I figured strep was one of those easily identifyable diseases... my mom even said "looks like textbook strep throat to me" when she saw me. So I dunno. I just want it to stop hurting, dammit!
:( Yeah, if she didn't do a culture, it may have just been viral (it's impossible to tell by looking), in which case you may just have to wait it out.
Okay, it's kinda nasty, but have you tried gargling with warm salt water? It's surprisingly soothing for a sore, scratchy throat when it feels like you're swallowing broken glass. One trick my old ENT (ear/nose/throat) specialist once gave me is to drink bullion (as in the broth from bullion cubes). It's super salty and so it has the same effect as the warm saltwater gargle.
Hang in there. I'll be sending good thoughts of a speedy recovery!
I did that a couple days ago, but I hate the taste so I don't do it that often. However, I think I'll try it again... because seriously, blah. What I did find, though, was that miso soup is just about the most wonderful thing EVER. Haha. I guess it's because of the warm saltiness of it, but ohhhh what a relief. I'm hoping I have some chicken noodle already here.

Are you on antibiotics? Seriously, like the day after you start them you'll feel SO much better. That is, if it's really strep.
