Hey... what's going on?

Aug 20, 2013 11:54

Some of the stresses I talked about in my last post have calmed down a bit. After a long struggle with banks and HMRC and accountants, I finally managed to get a business bank account opened and was able to invoice for my hours. The sense of relief was palpable. By the looks of things, all should proceed smoothly from here on in. I'm keeping stuff ( Read more... )

Glad things have settled down, I took the plunge and rejoined OKC, met with one guy and we mutually decided definitely only friends, but got back in the saddle nearly straight away and I'm having coffee on Saturday afternoon with another.

Nice work, lady! Hope it goes well.

'Only friends' is still a good thing - I think if someone goes into the whole dating thing with the idea that it has to be a big romantic whirlwind relationship or nothing, they're going to end up disappointed. Making new friends is worthwhile in itself.

Exactly, and this guy is an old punk so it was nice to reconnect with that part of me. OKC is a bit scary though, it's really only just another online dating site now, and the cute geeks are thin on the ground, at least here anyway.

And thanks :-)

Yeah, most of the cute geeks I've seen on there turn out to be cute geeks I already know. Though I do have a date with one of them in a couple of weeks, and he is a total hottie.
Dunno if you read my Facebook but I regularly post up the more bizarre, creepy or scary OKC messages I receive. It's good for a giggle (and helps warn off my fellow OKC'ers)

I think I should cite you under the Geneva Act for War Crimes to quite 4-non blondes.
I can't help you with the rest, because haircuts and dating and housing, but I hope you battle through.
(Actually, I may be able to buy swords for you)

I bloody love that song. Even if it is impossible to sing unless you have lungs the size of zeppelins.

No problem, happy to advise! I'm no expert though - I've met some lovely people but not managed anything like an actual Relationship.

Oh dear... yeah, I always look at the Q&A responses. Most are 'oh well, that's just a difference of opinion' but there are some that are definite dealbreakers, particularly ones around sexual health and consent.

Glad to hear some of the practical considerations have sorted themselves out. Sorry about the other not yet sorted problems. Life can be a bitch.....
As far as ye olde dating sites are concerned. Have fun .
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on one a coup[le of years back (Yes! even olies want a bit of love and friendship) and after a couple of "interesting encounters" and one total hottie but not for keeps, I settled on a nice guy, who's amusing, kindly and a good mate and we're still seeing each other 2 years down the line. No, hes not "THE ONE", but he is sweet, kind and helpful and we have had a fair bit of fun together going out to places and stuff.
So as I say, stick at it and enjoy - you may well not meet "Mr Right" , but there's a lot of people out there who are far from being Mr. (or for that matter Miss)Wrong.
(And frankly , even the boring totally unsuitable ones can give you a few laughs in retrospect!!!!)
