Vidding Year meme 2008 / Videóim az elmúlt évben

Jan 07, 2009 20:47

The year 2008 was the first entire year through I made fanvids, I began it in the second half of 2007. So I'm still a newbie as a vidder, although I'm one of the oldest ones, I'm sure. I'm a big Stargate fan, therefore I made only Stargate vids so far. Maybe I will do fanvids in other fandoms in the future.

Let's see my year 2008 in vids!
(Download AND STREAMING links are on my website )

March: Losses (SGA, team)
The Battle at Antarctica (SG-1, episodic)

April: Awakening (SG-1 vidlet, Sam/Jack/Fifth) - available with English subtitles as well, because the song I used is a Hungarian folk song

May: Stargate 1994 - The Beginning (Stargate the movie)

June: Here Without You (SGA, John/Nancy AU)

July: Sex Bombs (SG-1 crossover with Sliders, Vala/Maggie Beckett)

September: The Show Must Go On (SGA, team)

October: Ba'al's Song (SG-1, humor)

November: The Replicators Strike Back (SGA, humor) - available in English and in Hungarian

December: Thank God It's Christmas (SG-1 and SGA crossover, team)

Favourite vid: Definitely Here Without You. I just love the story I created. *evil smile* And that was the point in vidding, where I dared to use more effects and transitions than before and began to discover the capabilities of the software I use. I'm still at the begginning of this.
Least favourite vid: Sex Bombs unfortunately, because I hadn't too much time to finish it (oh, RL) until the deadline of the Crossover Challenge on Kawoosh! forum. So I feel it could be better if I would have more time, it is a quickie work.
Most successful: The Show Must Go On, based on feedbacks. Maybe.
Most under appreciated: I really don't know, probably the Stargate movie vid. It hasn't got so huge fanbase and it is an old movie (but I love it!).
Hardest to make: Definitely The Replicators Strike Back. I couldn't make this without my daughter's help at all, she made me all the text bubbles in two languages, there were totally 124 each! If I counted them correctly.:)
Most fun to make: its a tie: Ba'al's Song and Thank God It's Christmas, both of them due to the music. The first one is so funny, the second one is so nice. But in a certain point of view each vid was a great fun to make.
Things I've learned: Almost everything, from the very beginning. The vidding process itself, understanding the way I work as a vidder, besides to get acquinted with the softwares I use (all in English and my mother tongue is Hungarian!). Additionally I bought a new laptop in July with Vista on it, I had to change some softwares I used before, because they didn't run under Vista unfortunately.
Things I want to work on: Technically I wish to discover what my Magix software is capable of, maybe I will try After Effects later this year. As a vidder I'll try to move on towards other fandoms and/or movies. Additionally I want to find the balance in my way of vidding between a totally pre-designed vid and an intuitively edited vid. How to fInd the most appropriate song for my vid is also a thing to learn.
Vid projects: I have some, but they are ideas only now. There is one at this moment that I've started to work on. Unfortunately real life doesn't allow too much time me for vidding.

Happy New Year everyone!
