I'm sorry to have prompted you to find new ways to torture Dan and Charlotte. This is so very sad. I like the implication that Dan is getting data from more advanced civilizations, but oh, at what cost. He is lucky to have such a patient and loving wife like Charlotte. I hope it is over for them.

Haha, I'm sorry to have given such a depressing response to your prompt! I honestly initially read it and thought, "Oh fun!" but it just ended up going in an entirely different direction, clearly. And thank you for the lovely feedback on it as well!

Oh cool aliens!
do do do do dodo *<---X-files theme music*
Certainly an original idea, i enjoyed the getting to know each other up on the roof with the constellations bit alot!!!!
LOL, I remember when I was playing the Sims 2 my Faraday sim got abducted by aliens and came back pregnant and Charlotte happily accepted the kid, was weird but it made me think that poor old Dan would so be the type to get abducted by aliens, lol.
Just something about him gives me that impression.

Yeah, I'll be honest, no idea where it came from -- I mean, outside of the prompt itself -- but aliens used to really freak me out as a kid (though I watched tons of abduction-based movies and TV shows, so that probably didn't help, haha).

Thanks for the feedback! :D

I admit I almost skipped over this because I had yet to read a good alien abduction fic, but I trust you so I gave it a shot ;) It was AWESOME!So eerie and creepy, I loved the moment when Charlotte 'found' him again but then he disappeared in the morning. You almost don't even bring up the alien abduction that much, it's so covert and intriguing.
Fabulous job - this is fabulous for a prompt I shied away from ;)

Are there a lot of abduction fics out there? I haven't really read any -- though I suppose Lost doesn't necessarily lend itself to those types of scenarios really well.

But I'm so glad you read it, and thanks so much for leaving such an amazing comment! I just kind of banged it out right before the Fic Battle deadline, so I wasn't exactly sure how it turned out, so your lovely feedback is much appreciated. And yeah, in the end the abductions weren't even the point, per se, more than its implications.

And I now officially believe you can make anything work...

This is so wonderfully creepy. And Dan! Watching Charlotte watch him falling apart and being ripped away from her was so hard. And that ending with her curled next to him on the bed and shivering was such an unsettling scene to end on. (And a perfect one considering the holiday.)

I'm using my Mulder/Scully icon on principle...;)

Hahaha, I love that icon.

And thank you so, so much! This was another fic I just kind of conceived of and posted on a whim, so I'm really pleased to hear you liked it! Unsettling was kind of what I was going for, so that makes me even happier. ;D

He looks back and she disappears forever.

I think haunting is the right word to describe this fic. Chilling and so very beautiful.
