Musings on the Oscars. I mostly tweeted on the Oscars, but decided I wanted to write a few words about "Winter's Bone." "Winter's Bone" was the best film I have seen from last year. More catching up: Road Trip day 2
Day 2
I left Morgantown early, anxious to get on the road. I had a dinner appointment in Indiana that I wanted to be early for. I said goodbye to everyone then snuck downstairs to say goodbye to aunt Nancy and Uncle Chuck. Every time I say goodbye to them I think its for the last time, which in fact isn’t a bad thing. West/An Tir war
I went to the war to get a break from the fallout from my Dad's passing. It was a really good idea. I had a blast and, even though the reality of what was going on in my life hit me a time or two (Sunday morning was really hard for some reason) I needed the trip. I wrote about the fighting at SCA Fighter, but lots of other cool stuff happened.

Briefly
1.) Haven't written about dad's passing, Sac town, the war, the memorial, Crown, or the drive cross country. In fact, haven't really posted a lot of anything. Too much going on.
2.) Dad's memorial is this Sunday, July 11, at 5PM at Christ Unity Church on Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento. (Near La Riviera, behind the TOGOS).

Most people don't understand Gertrude Stein's famous saying about Oakland, that there is no there there. It was actually in the past tense "there was no there there." By way of explaination
Those who follow me on Facebook or Twitter know that, the day after I returned from California, my dad was killed in a bicycle accident. He was riding on the American River Parkway, fell, and hit his head on a rock. The Texas Board of Ed has voted to turn social studies textbooks into conservative propaganda fliers.
