That was a shockingly nasty pitcure of You-Know-Who. I was not prepared.

I've always been told that the British pronounce 'Ralph' like Raif, for a long time, actually, since I've been playing pieces by Ralph Vaughn Williams most of my musical life, and you pronounce his name in the same manner as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's alter ego.

So...what was her 'rapper name'?

Really? All Brit Ralphs say Rafe? That is mind-boggling.

I don't remember her rapper name but I know it had "Ice" in it. Like Ice Cube, only it was like... Ice Pack or something. But not that.

I suppose I could have linked to a nice attractive pic, but you know... schadenfraude.

My two thoughts? One, that I like Leine as a shortening of Madeline (since that's one of my favorite names and is hated by Husband Charming because of the nickname Maddy) and the other is, what's up with THAT? Insanity.

What's up with what? Could that sentence make less sense?

As for "Leine", the inherent problem is whether you pronounce Madeleine as "mad-ell-ihn" or "mad-ell-ine". Leine pronounced like Lynn would be a fine nickname, but "Line" would be rather awful.

And pronounced like "Laney" is, you must admit, just nonsensical.

Did you see Walk the Line? Johnny Cash's brother's name is Jack. I was like, "ummm, redundancy alert!"

But seriously... though many nicknames don't make a lick of sense, at least they're traditional and accepted and people aren't going to be like "Ned? Where the hell did the "N" come from? Freak!" (or similar). It's made-up names with no obvious derivation and/or no obvious pronounciation that REALLY get my goat.
