jmaynard just got a call from someone with the DFL (Minnesota's Democrats) who asked if he'd given any thought to the senate race between Al Franken (D) and Norm Coleman (R). She got a reply that seemed to stun her a bit when she asked what he'd decided, "I think Al Franken is a left-wing lunatic, so I'll be voting for Coleman." When she recovered she ( Read more... )

Being a lunatic seems to be a job qualification these days. If you're sane and think for yourself, you obviously have insufficient party loyalty!

But, but, "left-wing lunatic" only makes me *want* to vote for him! I mean, *I*'m a left-wing lunatic after all ... (I do have to agree with Jay somewhat, I too did a WTF when I heard that Al Franken was running for the Dems there. But I also haven't met a Republican I do like and want to vote for yet (to be fair, there's rarely any politician I like enough to sing the praises of, Bill Blaikie has been my political hero for over 20 years now and is extremely admirable (MPs from all parties even deeply respect the guy), and I posted recently about the only American politician I like, but that's about it.)
