So. Yesterday nightrider101 left my little kingdom and returned home to her dog. We had a great time, and it saddens me to think how much time will pass until I see her again. Also, I  no longer have an excuse not to learn for my exams.

In other words: despite her being gone, I still don't have much time for internetting. There are lots of comments still waiting ( Read more... )

I had planned to write a review of Torchwood once I had the time for it, but after watching Children of Earth decided against it. Because. Fuck.
(I do, however, confess that I still don't like Ianto. For a full day I was walking around with the words COMPASSION FAIL written on my forehead.)

So I'm not the only one?

Well, okay, let me elaborate. CoE killed me, ripped my heart right out and gloated about it for a week afterwards. However, I am not upset about Ianto dying, per say. I was just emotionally invested in the show, the narrative really pulled me in. Ianto never really did anything for me (neither did Jack/Ianto.) I loved his quips and everything, but at the end of the day, it was a soft impression. My only real gripe with the miniseries was: how does this Jack -- this wounded and "broken" Jack -- fit into the DW universe he'll be visiting really soon ( ... )

I agree that it was a different TW completely. The writing was definitely better as was the acting, IMHO. I wasn't emotionally invested in Ianto by any means. I feel bad for those that ship the pairing because I know what it's like to have your OTP beaten to death then burned right before your eyes. It sucks ( ... )

Hee! Thank you for failing. I'm glad to hear your thoughts on it.

A "realistic TW"-- I like how you worded that. It was more based in reality. Sure, there were aliens and whatnot, but the politics and moreso the humanity really came through. It was beautifully scripted and acted (Gwen really impressed me. And Rhys! And Andy! I haven't squeed about the "normal" boys yet. They were wonderful.)

This either pushes Jack towards the Doctor or very far away. It's sort of like another Game Station to me. Abandoned (moreorless) with questions (about himself) that may not be answerable. If and when he finds the Doctor he can either; find solace or punch him out for not coming to the rescue. Who knows what'll happen, though. This could just be erased from the DW universe and Jack'll be happy and flirt like hell while the world (or just Ten) ends.

Same here! They had a stellar support cast too. The best I've ever seen on Torchwood.

I don't think they'll cover the fallout of this in the DW finale. I wish they would, but we know TW/DW is known for plot holes the size of countries.

My canon is that the 456 were blocking all signals to reach the Doctor. After the 456 were killed or left - however you see it - I don't think anyone was in a hurry to talk to the Doctor.

Being me, I'm totally taking this on in fanfic. I'll probably be booed right off LJ, but eh...I can't help it. I have a Ten/Jack auction story I have to write.

As you said, I think it will push Jack away from the Doctor in the beginning. He's going to need time - a lot of it. And time is the one thing he has a lot of.

I've enjoyed hearing your thoughts!

And vail_kagami - thanks for letting me hijack your journal!

I'm so glad you got your tablet working! YAY! :D I love the drawing too. I'm definitely looking forward to viewing all your doodles.

We had a great time, and it saddens me to think how much time will pass until I see her again.

I feel the same way, but we will see each other again. If we did it once, we can certainly do it again!

And just so you have the name...it's a gourd. :D I still can't believe I got that through customs.

You already know my feelings on the Children of Earth special so I won't go on about here, but...yeah.

A gourd. Yes, I totally needed to have that written down for me. SDV still works for me, though. :P

Nevermind the journal hijack.

SDV does work. ;)

Journal hijacking is fun! This is also a safe place to do it. :D
