Since the following prompts do so well together, I did them at once.

Suggested by rose_cat: Five things the Doctor loves about Jack.

1. He’s a hero.

The Doctor would like to say he knew it the moment the first met the human, but the sad truth is that the first time he met the human, Jack was just another untrustworthy, dubious and ( Read more... )

I see this as an exact list of reasons why I ship Doctor/Jack :D. And this part is definitely my favourite:

"Some people Jack cares for more than anyone else, and for those he would sacrifice himself and all the others. Being one of those people is humbling, the Doctor found, and terrifying. He pretends not to notice it, for he does not know how to handle being loved so much."

Thatk you. I thought it would be a good idea to have the hate-part be a mirror of the love-part. It seemed appropriate.

Yeah, it's so right, and what's so clever about this piece is that it reflects the truth - the parts of a person we love can also lead to the most intense hatred.

Oh, nice! I like your "the coin has two sides" approach.

Jack has also selflessly risked his sanity for the sake of others, and that is something he could not simply regrow if it got cut away.

Which keeps Jack from being like a cartoon character -- immortality isn't a total "reset," even if Jack tends to act like it is.

...the Doctor has come to see the benefits of someone who will always be there.

Well, he would if I were writing the show! (Although, in that scene on the Plass in "LOTTL," he didn't seem the least bit conflicted about asking Jack to come along.)

Being one of those people is humbling...the Doctor...pretends not to notice it, for he does not know how to handle being loved so much.

And Jack will always be there, and will always love him, whether the Doctor likes it or not :)

[Jack] also, despite his naturally exhibitionistic and self-confident personality, hardly ever tries to become centre of events and never hesitates to follow the Doctor’s orders.Yes, it's interesting how naturally Jack falls into step as the ( ... )

That's a little scary, isn't it?

Yes, it's interesting how naturally Jack falls into step as the Doctor's subordinate.
It was obvious in Utopia how much Jack enjoys having the adventures but not the responsibility. Actually, I prefer Sidekick!Jack over Leader!Jack.

I'm glad you liked them!

Kind of like in RL ;) Looking at it again reminds me of your Ten/TARDIS-by-way-of-Jack non-con fic, actually. Which was a lot scary!

I prefer Sidekick!Jack over Leader!Jack.

So does Jack, I think :)

Oh, this is cool! ))) The "five things" drabbles are always interesting, but when I understood that the second part contained the same statements, I thought "wow, this is something I haven't seen yet!" It nicely reflects human (and Time Lord's, looks like)) duality.
I am especially impressed by the 3 & 4.
When I think why Jack trusts the Doctor so much that he never hesitates about his orders (which is not like Jack's usual behaviour with others), the only answer that comes to me is love anyway - though, maybe, platonic now. But I am sure Jack worships the Doctor, I just don't know what else it could be.

I guess you're right about the whorship part. That's how I see it, at least. The Doctors'll always mean a little more to Jack than anyone else.

Again, thanks for the comment!
