Oh, this was beautiful!

I love how the Doctor thought about Jenny's reactions both good and bad.

If I quoted all the good lines in this, I'd be quoting the whole thing. It was wonderful! An introspective piece, but written in such a way that it was so easy to imagine the Doctor sunk in his chair watching the fire.

Also, Florida!!!! :D That part made me smile.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Bittersweet, warm story. Not enough people write about his reaction to Jenny, nicely done.

And I had to go google if the Northern Lights have ever been visible from Florida. :P I live one state north of Florida and I've certainly never heard of the Northern Lights being visible here... Apparently there have been some rare dates when that has happened, so I learned something new thanks to you!

Ooh, lovely.

I like that he has a private den. (Darn it, I want one!) And that he sits in there just thinking and angsting. (I'd do that too.)

...like a father and a daughter from a silly human novel...

Makes me think of One and Susan, for some reason.

...he knows he’ll never find out. Because he won’t, and she can never prove him wrong, he likes to imagine that she would just had given him a hug and told him it was all right.

Poor Doctor. I can believe that he really would like to be able to tell everything to someone and to be forgiven. He just can't ask, and he probably couldn't accept forgiveness anyway. But with Jenny, maybe, he could at least imagine it.

She has been a Time Lady, technically, and that would have given her the right.

The right to forgive him, yes. As the Master wouldn't, and Romana can't.

I like your coda, too :) Darn, I'm all out of ice cream!

This was so very beautiful! Very sweet and sad and comforting in an unique way. The Doctor's life is all about possibilities and "what if"s, isn't it?
