[A few sounds of buttons being pressed as she gets to know the device she was given.]

Please work. [One final button sound, although her voice is pretty calm she sounds terribly worried and a bit panicked about something. Her voice trails off every now and then ]

I'm sorry to bother anyone but I'm looking for someone. He's been hurt badly. His ( Read more... )

[Gasps, then is silent for a moment before he gets up the courage to speak.]

M...Mary? Is that really you?

[Now he's worrying too much and over such silly things! She won't laugh though, just smile.]

I'm sure they're nice.

A gift? What kind? Was it something she made?

[nods]

Yeah...a watch. A sort of astral collector. Since Aion had taken my horns. ...Rosette I used it for a long time, but I got my horns back here in the City, so...I haven't had to use it since then. I've been keeping it in a drawer in my desk.

It's hard to believe a watch could do that. But how were your horns here? Did Aion have them with him when he came here?

[There's that tightening of his grip again, just for a moment.]

...He gave them to Joshua. Put them on his head.

[Owe? Maybe? Either way, Mary seems a little worried about this news.]

Why would Aion do such a thing? [She frowns in concern. She knew Aion had his flaws but not like this.] But you have them back now. So things are fine, yes?

I don't know. I've tried talking to him about his plans, but I just...I don't know.

[Swallows and shakes his head again.]

No. Aion wants them back. Joshua too, I think. That's why we fought in the first place--he was trying to take my horns back. I can't even kill him to stop it, people here...they don't die the way people back home do. They change, they're cold and don't breathe, but...they can still move, they can still attack. As long as I keep him trapped, then they should be safe, but...I don't think they'll really be safe until Aion leaves the City.

But can he leave? I've heard you can't really go back once you're here.

[She thinks a moment, even if she doubts the answer she can still ask.]

Is there anything I can do to help?

People can leave, but not of their own free will. At least...I've never seen it happen. Normally when people leave, they just...disappear one day.

[He manages to force a small smile on his face, even though his voice sounds a little doubtful.]

I'm not sure. Honestly, I...sort of feel like I don't know what I'm doing. [Genuinely] But I'm glad you're here. At the very least, you're someone that knows Aion. We might be able to figure out something. ...At least for right now, he's where he can't hurt anyone. I think I'm going to try talking to him again once his wounds heal.

I'm surprised there's no control over someone leaving. That seems so strange.

[She nods, anything to help!]

Was he badly hurt?

I still haven't really gotten used to it. How someone like Rosette and Joshua can be here for years, but apparently I've come and gone and the past--even though I don't remember it--and some people are only here a month, or a few weeks, or even just a day or two.

Who, Aion? ...Yeah. I roughed him up pretty bad during the fight, and afterwards he tried to attack Rosette so a friend of mine...well, he had a lot of his astral drained, I think, and his horns are missing too--(who knows why)--so he's having a rough time healing it all. I don't know why I'm even bothering trying to help along the process.

It's strange but maybe it isn't so bad. But I've never seen this place. I've never had that problem before either. Most of the time there is something recognizable.

[She shakes it off.]

His horns are gone? But who would've taken them? [She's a little concerned about him just because. But she hasn't gone crazy yet either. She decides to say nothing more about Aion's condition, but still looks a little worried.] I'm sure we can talk to him.

"Seen"...with your powers, you mean? ...Yeah, this place has a way of limiting powers.

I don't know...he somehow doesn't seem to have any problems fighting without them, so he's still getting astral somehow.

[With a quite obvious frown.]
"We"? No. No, you can't talk to him. That'd be a bad idea.

Even before though.

Could it be from something like the watch you mentioned?

[Saw that coming, don't need visions for that one. She frowns at him, but at least she understands why.]

Are you going to tell him I'm here?

Reply

[ AP ] tenmorehours February 2 2009, 09:24:36 UTC
Huh...maybe your visions were only of our world? Although that'd be hard to test.

...Maybe. If Shader was able to make one of them, she could probably make it again. I haven't seen him using anything like that, though, unless I just missed it.

[cringes] Probably not. Although he might find out anyway. Word tends to spread pretty fast here if you don't go out of your way to keep it a secret.
...If he does, we'll have to be careful. Some of the things he's said to me here...I think he'll try to kill you again.

It's hard to believe this is a different world though. Even if I haven't seen it. It's so similar in several ways.

Do you think it's something else then?

[She only nods to that.]
