If you have a CVS with a Minute Clinic, it might be worth seeing how much that would cost.
If you absolutely don't have any way to get it checked, I'd suggest hot compresses in the assumption it's an ingrown or blocked pore. (Some people put a few drops of tea-tree oil on the very-warm compress, I gather?) If you don't get relief from that after a day or two, then... it really might need a mammogram. Here's some stuff that might have options (down near the bottom): https://clearhealthcosts.com/blog/2013/05/arent-all-mammograms-free-because-of-the-affordable-care-act/
(A phrasing thing -- if your deductible ran out, then doesn't that mean that your insurance has to start covering stuff? That's how the deductible thing works: it's basically a "cap" on how much you have to pay out of pocket in a year. So if you've paid all of the deductible, your insurance should be more useful till January!)
I agree! I purposedly rescheduled my colonscopy for the beginning of the year to purposely run my deductible out for other procedures, like wisdom teeth for two kids and my mammogram, which obviously always costs me money (when it costs others nothing). Dense breasts are just pricier but I won't have to pay for these other procedures....
So, be happy and USE the fact that you may see your doc for free now till the beginning of the year!
