For what it is worth - I can tell from your pictures and your writing that you are an individual who makes their own path. It's funny, though, how you feel that need to point it out. Don't be concerned about what we think. You are you, and that's one of the reasons I like reading your journal.
btw - I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton, too. I have Beetlejuice on VHS (and I don't own many movies), Nightmare Before Christmas is my ALL TIME favorite movie (but that may have something to do with my obsession with Halloween...) and I have watched it dozens of times. Shortly after the movie came out I used sound bites from that movie for many of my Computer sounds (opening files, shutting down, etc).
Something about his movies that let you glimpse the dark side, but somehow keep you safely on this side. Hard to put into words...
i am not concerned what people THINK of me, i just want people to appreciate my thoughts on certain subjects and not make assumptions.
i love the nightmare before christmas for the pure childish joy i get from watching it. i sing along with every song (much to the dismay of thomas) and grin like an idiot watching the movie. i still watch it at least once every week.
i'm with you. when it comes to meeting people that come and go in my life, i like to make a lasting impression by being different from anyone else they've ever known. it's not hard since most people really suck these days, but by being a good friend that speaks the truth even when it could hurt feelings, it seems to make me stand out. i appreciate people that are able to be honest and themselves throughout everything. i also feel embarrassed when it comes to liking things that people are such fanatics about . . . i didn't even want to see twilight. i ended up watching it and would like to read the books, but i'm definitely not obsessed enough to start saying i'm "mrs. cullen" or anything like that. i also love kelly clarkson. :x
i think the things we like that are "typical" might actually make us even more unique though, since it's almost a given that most other kelly clarkson fans don't also like killswitch engage, lol.
i like your individuality. i also love the pictures you take. :]
i love kelly clarkson too.but then again i also love slipknot.christina aguilera.system of a down. hahaha. i think i love you. you are totally right, i've always kind of thought that it would make me more unique, as i like a lot of other things that are typical, but so different from one another. but it also irritates me to be completely misunderstood. i hate assumptions, and it seems to happen when you say you like a "typical" thing.
no one understands me when I tell them I don't like something because the world has ruined it.
i don't like to be thought of as typical. which is probably why i take such a disliking to movies like twilight, typically attractive men and all "fad" phenomenoms.
I see where you're coming from. The people that would categorize as typical probably don't know you, therefore shouldn't worry you. it's not so important to let everyone know of how different you are, as long as you're aware of that. :)
Oh, and *huggles* because I can't stand Twilight and adore Tim Burton. Not because it's cool or weird and everything, but because it's so utterly magical and witty and just amazing. And I think Beetlejuice was the first thing of his that I saw, too. I remember I thought it was genuisly creepy. :D
i don't want everyone to think of me as different, just to understand a little better why i like the things i do, and dislike the things i don't. assumptions make me cry.
yeah, i know, and it just pains me when someone just won't accept my point of view. I'm not trying to change anyone's tastes, but when someone clearly disagress with something I like and thinks I'm crazy for it, that's when I get pissed off. I have this one girl who kept on nagging and pestering me about how crazy I am because I actually enjoyed Sweeney Todd. She asked what I liked about it and anything I said she took with complete disregard.
