So yeah, there you go. I cut my hair. I guess now you can understand why I asked for scarves and not just winter scarves on my wish list. I also have a picture of when I did my first "big chop" nearly 7 years ago:

Yay! Soooo happy for you and proud of your bravery! You look super cute with your head shaved, you have such a lovely smile :) And then again, I really don't think shaving your head is about what you'll look like afterwards, it's more about having the guts to do it and freeing yourself of the burden of hair for a while. Whenever someone says they'd look silly with their head shaved I get really ticked off, it's not like I thought I looked my best with my shaved head but it was still one of the best decisions I ever made.

Definitely need to start doing oil treatments again. Used to put all sorts of oils on my hair when it was super-long.

WHOO!! I have to seriously thank you for kicking my ass!! Thinking I need to do this, or I want to do it isn't enough. You gotta do it. I also get really annoyed when someone tells me that 'it suits you really well, I wouldn't be able to do that'...ummmm, how do you know that. I definitely didn't think I'd be able to really pull it off, you never know until you do it.

I also heard a ridiculously stupid comment that only Black women can pull this style off....WTF?? So I had to set them straight and tell them that I know at least 2 White women (you and Heli) who looked awesome when they cut their hair.

Definitely do some oil treatments, they do wonders. Also deep conditioning because you have more hair now. It's really important. I did it twice a month with 2 different kinds.

I'm still listening to your video, but girl, you looks so good! The video is much more complimentary than the picture because of the angle. And your raspy voice is sexy, too! Just had to say it real quick.

Gah! Thought I was signed in. Sorry about the anonymous comment.

BTW, I try to comment on most of your posts. When you complain that no one comments, I'm one of those nobodies. >.< I often don't get comments on my posts as well.

Have you thought about adding vitamin E oil (without alcohol) to your mixture? I have terribly dry skin and through five pregnancies, I didn't get stretch marks because I used it on my belly. It is thick, so you'd have to thin it, but it isn't going to wash off easily.

In the winter, I always used regular cooking oil or Crisco on my skin, otherwise it got so dry it would peel. My daughter gave me some coconut oil and I used it after my last shower. I might need to use Crisco though. Coconut oil is so thin that it soaks right into my dry skin and I'm left without protection from the cold.

Anyway, you're looking beautiful!

No worries.

I know I have a few people who do comment. I'm mostly talking about people who are my friends back home (or even here) who say they read my blog, but they can't say anything about what I've written, so I find it hard to believe. I don't mean to overgeneralize, but that's what happens sometimes. I've thought about making my LJ back to friends only, but I haven't done it.

I did think about doing a Vitamin E oil regimen, but decided against it since I'm already taking Vitamin E internally and since it's fat-soluable and not water-soluable, I'd rather just leave it as it is.

In the winter I usually put sometimes 4-5 layers of moisturizer. It's really time consuming, but people are always telling me that my skin looks soft even in the winter, so I suppose I'm doing something right. Have you tried shea butter? It's really good for dry skin. Coconut oil is a good base, but yeah, since it's so thin, you'd have to put another layer of something thicker on top.

Thanks <33333

I haven't tried shea butter, but since I know Crisco works and I can afford it, I'm just going to grab some next time I'm at the store. ^_^ What I liked about the Vitamin E oil is that it didn't come off. That stuff is like tar once it is on. :)

Yeah, shea butter can be expensive, but if you go to the black hair stores, you can find them for a decent price (and good amount too). I've heard that Vitamin E oil is some seriously thick stuff. I'll have to try it sometime (at least on the places where I'm prone to atopic skin reactions)

I still say good for you! It takes a lot of guts to make such a drastic change! I've done the VO5 hot oil treatments before when I had long hair and it made the texture much softer, but I've found that using quality shampoo/conditioner makes a huge difference.

Thanks, BB! I suppose it always takes some amount of courage to change something, I never really think of it that way. I'm a bit impulsive in those things. Like moving to Finland XDD

Definitely using quality products helps improve the texture and quality of your hair, but I also find taking extra time to deep condition really helps to, especially if dry brittle hair is a problem (like it is for me)
