Kuşadası and Ephesus

Back to the Greek trip, and onward to Kuşadası! This is another port town on the "Turkish Riviera"; it looked a lot like Bodrum. Unlike Bodrum, it had no major sights of its own, though it did have a picturesque castle in its harbor. Some day I will get to go there. One of my biggest regrets was that I didn't try harder to get some classical archaeology experience.

it was as a little like we kept visiting the same town, only the castle just kept shrinking...
That made me smile.

Incidentally, you can't see the sea -- or much of it, anyway -- from the amphitheater, because the mouth of the river it was on (the Little Meander, not the original Meander) silted up, thus hastening the city's decline.
