NEVER voluenteer to do something at the beginning of a year when you don't know how much work you will have, or how much you will change. Also, do not voluenteer to do workshops unless you enjoy contacting people

I know what you mean with volunteering for scthuff. At the time it seems good, but later on it becomes a burden. I actually have been on leave from leadership stuff in UU circles for the last... 3 years or so, because I got the same point you are in. But now that I've had that break, and I've been a participant for a while, I feel like I can (and willingly) start contributing a bit more... Perhaps its just one of those cycles :-)Just power through it and it'll be all good. As for OPUS/Concentric, I'm going to both, so hopefully I'll get to see you for at least one of them :-)
In my year away from the YRUU community, I've been thinking a lot about it, especially because I've become active in another extremely empowering youth community.
I've been a leader in YRUU since I was 13... at 13 I ran for the Jr. High transitional age-range representative, didn't get the posistion, but became active on the church level for two years after that. At 14 (9th grade), I turned down a nomination for our DYSC (District Youth Steering Committee). At 15, I got my SDC Trainer certification and went away to Germany... and knew that when I came back, I would be the chair of our DYSC.
If anything, my year away has shown me how important the YRUU community- and my leadership in it- is to my life. Hardly a week goes by when I haven't thought about some problem in our district's YRUU stuff at least once, and that usually happens more often.
I'm really not sure what I wanted to accomplish with this comment. By the way, there's a really fantastic (German) musical that you should check out. It's called "Tanz der Vampire."
*hugz* I know how that works, love. I took the time off too. Sometimes we need to.
You know, I'd say, when you're ready of course, you'll need to come use those theatre skills in leadership. Sometimes, just the act of charisma and leadership is enough.
I also assert you have the cutest tummy in C*UUYAN.

That song is actually a recurring motive in that musical.
