Portland Pre-GA Green Tour

Jun 20, 2007 09:54

We're in Portland for the largest annual Unitarian Universalist gathering (General Assembly aka GA). We came early to have some time to see Portland and ease into the conference which will keep us very busy. So we signed up for a "green tour" to see what they're doing for the ecology here. I wish my berg would have such a nice tour to show next year when you all are coming here. Fort Lauderdale is not so eco-conscious.

What ARE you planning for us? There must be something special there. We're planning to charter a bus or two from the DC area, though many of us won't go that route since we'll be coupling our trip with a vacation. My family is in the Tampa area and an hour south.

If I have anything to do with it there will be some ecotourism. We have a few places in the surrounding area that are interesting to the Nature nut. It's a great place to vacation. Lots to see and do. I hope we can have snorkeling trips and so forth.. I am counting on this to help energize the base for our area. I went to our District assembly and it was brought to my attention how wonderful it would be if our area churches would participate fully in GA. It's a personal goal of mine now.
