Irony is...

For the past 3+ years, I, a Movie Lover(tm), have made the supreme sacrifice of not going to see any of the movies I want to see in the theater because I have a baby -- now a baby and a toddler -- and no babysitter.

Then, when I finally manage to ditch the kids with the hubby (we've basically given up on being able to see a movie together until ( Read more... )

I hate to say it, but I think you might be...or you're part of a seriously endangered species. If I had little ones, I'd be right there with you, though.

One of my friends from high school is one of the "other kind." Not only one of them, but feels no shame if her youngsters are howling through the movie.

I can kinda get why people do that, but at the same time I don't. To me, it's the equivalent of willingly going on a road trip knowing you're infected with a nasty flu bug. You don't MEAN to inflict discomfort on others, but it's a good chance of happening. So why help it along?

It always surprises me that parents do that too. We didn't take my older son to a movie until he was four, and that was to a matinee of an animated movie. Not only is it rude to the other theater goers, but I would think it could be scary for the child. A big, dark room, huge, loud movie screen, and depending on what movie, most like inappropriate situations for a little one to be seeing.

It does boggle the mind what some people think it's okay to do in movies. Did you enjoy the parts of the movie that you did get to see?

I'm more than happy to sit for you any time you're willing to come get me. That may be more trouble than it's worth, but it is an option.

Michelle! I miss you so much. :(

And yes, I loved the movie. Loved loved loved. Would see again multiple times, were that possible at the moment.

Maybe if I can talk Mike into going to a SL theater, you sitting for me might be an option. But it doesn't look like any theater movies are in my future. Mike has been out of work since January and while we're surviving, he just forked out a bunch of money to pay for the kids' summer sports. Cc and Audrey are super-athletes.

How are you? Email me, because my phone sucks. :(
