Why you don't see the art of "buttering" someone up in conversation anymore; be it before you ask for something or otherwise. It's a lost art form. People are too direct these days. Pity.

Since a few people asked, I could not renew my driver's license online (as to avoid the nasty DMV line) because 1) I had to take a vision test and 2) I got the new design of the IL license.
