Unit Delimma

I've been in the Army for about a year now, however I've only been with my unit for about 6 months. So far, the experience has not been good. I've said from the beginning that the Army really isn't for me but I was willing to see it through because I did sign a contract but now I wish that I had quit. I can't stand it! Everyone says that it's ( Read more... )

Sometimes it's good to play stupid, and annoy the shit out of your NCOs, and go along with the micromanagement. Let micromanaging bottom up work for you.

I know how you feel. I have been in the air force for four years and have had situations where I couldn't trust a damn person. It is a very bad feeling to have to be in that situation. But do remember no situation in the military is permanant, and is always subject to change at anytime. Try not to give them amunition to screw you over and keep your nose clean until you get into a better situation. Also do things to keep you mind off of your shitty situationl

Thank you! That's ctually the first nice things that someone has responded with. Everyone else that responded just told me to nut up anddeal with it. I'm actually deployed right now. Even though it's not home it's not so bad. I actually got sent on assignment away from my unit, which is awesome.

I understand the lack of trust in your unit. I can only advise that always remember each and everyone of your unit has to trust in you also. If you're good it, so they will be also. When given, it's received. Bless you for serving, be safe.

I've been a Marine for six years and let me tell you, it does get better. When I first joined my unit all we did was play F***-F*** games all F***ing day long; it was like fourth phase of recruit training. In my experience, it depends on the command and the admin staff. If you have a good staff no problems, but it's really just a role of the dice. Having a bad command can be the biggest F***ing S***bag nightmare on God's green earth. Not to mention, your not an NCO, it's typically a non-NCO's duty to take S***. I tell my younger Marines that every time I get a new one. If you work hard, work proficiently and utilize the chain of command every time you have an issue; you should be good. Just try to stay under the radar as much as possible, unless you do something amazing obviously.

Good luck

Thank you! That's the best advice I've an been given so far. Thank you for not being an ass. All I got from other people was crap like "nut up and eal with it." I'm actually currently deployed and it's been an amazing experience simply because my unit loaned me out to a combined team of coalition forces. The leadership here is so much better and I've learned so much.

Well I'm glad to have been some kind of help. I remember when I was a boot PFC or Lance Corporal, it's not suppose to be fun. Bootcamp, even Marine Bootcamp, cannot make you a killer; it's up to your NCO's to make you a great Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman, or Guardsman. Keep your head up... and down in obvious situations.
