How did you find Orange customer support?
My previous experiences with them have left me considering introducing a deadly viral strain into their head offices water supply.

How did I find them? Stupid.

One Saturday morning, early May. I phone them to ask about my internet account, after it appears to have been blocked. I discover that they haven't actually been taking payment for the past few months, so I have a sizable bill, and they have suspended my account. There has been no contact from them saying that I haven't made payments, just the normal 'click this link to see your monthly report' e-mail. They tell me I must have received e-mails about the fact I had missed payments. I check, and there are no e-mails since they were Wanadoo, shortly after changing package.
Me: "I'd like to make a payment then, please."
Orange: "With what?"
M: "A Debit Card."
O: "Oh... Okay..."
Details are givenO: "Okay, that will go through on the 23rd ( ... )

Once you've bought a power supply, replace whatever extension cable it's plugged into with a decently surge protected one. Might save future fallovers and premature deaths.

Also someone told me it wasn't sometimes worth getting the fatyter supplies because although the ratings are higher, the quality and sturdiness isn't always there. You probably only need a 300 Watter, and those things are normally solid as rocks - barring double power spikes, obviously.

We thought the surge protected one was up there. I think it's actually downstairs on the TV/DVD/Sky†/Video/Stereo thing (Hmmm... Surge protect a couple of hundred quids worth of PC, or a couple of thousand of AV?). But yes, surge protection will be acquired.

I'm only getting the 500W because we plan to upgrade knightbird's machine to some really spangly kit in the next year or so, which will draw power like it's going out of fashion...
