[Freddie is still filled to the very brim with questions. He's still getting used to the technology, but has figured out the basics after endlessly clicking the PokéGear. Inside of a comfortable spare room in Cherrygrove, of course. Freddie doesn't exactly feel like starting the trek to that another city, dear god, right now. What's the rush?

Unfortunately, a shitty job is the most lucrative way of earning money, unless you happen to be capable of breeding Pokemon.
And happen to own Pokemon people are interested in obtaining. You could then sell the eggs.
However, there's also the option of battling. It earns you a small sum of money from each trainer you defeat.
It's not nearly as profitable, but is still another viable option.

That would be correct. Until you've a compatible male, or obtain a Ditto, that option isn't available to you.
And again, correct. You are most certainly capable of battling.
You likely wouldn't make it far enough to gather breeding capable Pokemon if you were barred from battle.
The Pokemon are quite a bit stronger the further into Johto you get.

There's nothing much than doing the jobs here. You can always try selling or doing performances to get some money.

You can buy a chessboard in the bigger cities like Goldenrod as far as I've seen. Maybe set up a chess match and winner gets some cash?

Until your pokemon have eggs, the mediocre job is all you have. So I would suggest catching a Ditto if you want pokemon eggs fast.]
