So I finally saw Scary Godmother playing on CN today. I have no idea why watching it makes me so ridiculously happy, but it does. I love watching it (though the second movie is a little weird). I think part of it is because my little fangirl heart just can't help but ship Orson/Hannah. Haha, I'm such a dork. I should've put those two somewhere on ( Read more... )

I was actually always under the impression that there was something going on between Velma and Shaggy, but then again I'm the girl who looks at almost anything and sees a pairing, lol. I can't say it was clear in the original series as I avoided it like the plague (my little sister went through an obsessive Scooby phase when she was 3 or 4 and it just about drove me bonkers). But I did, personally, think it was there. I don't think it was until later incarnations of the series that they started playing with the idea a bit more obviously though.

I guess it was just something I never really noticed lol. I never saw it in the original series (from what I saw, I didn't really watch it that much), and in other Scooby-Doo shows, Velma wasn't even around for them to play on it. In one Scooby-Doo movie, Shaggy even had a girlfriend. The only version of Scooby-Doo I know really well is A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, and the kids were all too young for them to play around with those kinds of relationships.

I think, if memory serves, it was mostly present in the really late episodes where they had the "guest star" characters such as "The Addams Family" or so on. Maybe my memory fails me, which is totally possible, but I think that's where I remember first noticing it. I personally don't really know though where I stand on the pairing either way. I guess it's something that I can see and can't see. Did you watch the Lake Monster movie?

Ah, that might explain why I never saw anything. I never caught any of those shows with the guest stars (except maybe one with Batman and Robin once...). I'm not sure how I feel about it either. Especially with the way they're handling it now.

No, I haven't really seen much of their newer movies...or many Scooby-Doo movies period ^^;; The last Scooby-Doo movie I saw was Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase.

Oh crap hun, I didn't realize I missed your birthday! *feels guilty* Happy belated birthday, fellow October baby! XD I need to find some online program or something that can alert me to my online friends' birthdays.

As for SD:MI, I think the show's funny, but it's like they went looking through the Scooby section at the Pit 'O Voles and decided to pair Shaggy and Velma together. I never actually noticed how it was a 'choose Scooby or Velma' thing going on, but now that you pointed it out, it does seem like that. I hope the writers can resolve the situation in a non-infuriating manner.

I really don't get Shaggy/Velma myself. Fred/Daphne, okay, but Shaggy/Velma feels like a door prize romance. Truth be told, I like him with that Amber chick from the "Alien Invaders" DTV that came out a few years ago. Even though she's an alien, lol.

lol It's okay. I missed yours too, so we can call it even and try to do better next year XD

It's just been really weird. I've missed a lot of episodes, but I remember a lot of missed moments between Shaggy and Velma because Scooby suddenly butts in, and I always wondered, "Does he not notice what's going on?" Then they have Shaggy sneaking around to go to prom with Velma, and Scooby gets mad at him for going to prom instead of hanging out with him. And then Scooby catches the two of them, and both Scooby and Velma actually try to make Shaggy choose between the two of them. Scooby even asked if Shaggy was cheating on him! Not that Velma's been any better about it, because she's being so demanding and trying to change Shaggy so much. And they wonder why Shaggy's so confused ( ... )

Sounds good to me. =D

LOL, really? Scooby asked Shaggy if he was cheating on him? That is... actually a little funny. I need to watch that show more often. Poor Shaggy, all the dude wants to do is eat and relax, not be stuck in a love/friendship triangle.

That why's I called Shaggy/Velma a door prize romance: I think I saw someone use the term in a fanfiction community to describe a pairing where it feels like the authors stuck two characters together just to see all of the cast in a romantic relationship or something. But I'm willing to watch how Shaggy and Velma progress too. It certainly can't be any worse than Dulcy/Rotor (I know I bought that up before, but that still stands as one of the worst door prize romances I've ever seen before).

They need to bring Amber back. XD

I didn't know you were interested in Scooby Doo. Dare I ask what you think of Scrappy Doo? XD *is curious*

=D

When I heard that, I just shook my head and sighed. I mean, I thought Velma was being a little ridiculous, but that was really weird. And Scooby unable to be happy for Shaggy and Velma is about as bad as Velma making Shag pick her over his best friends.

That pretty much sums them up all right. Still, I can't help but see how this relationship turns out. If the writers really want something to develop from this, though, they really need to have Velma and Scooby sort their issues out, if only for Shaggy's sake.

They totally do XD

I'm not a huge Scooby-Doo fan, to be honest. The only version of Scooby that I really loved was A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, because I thought it was cute. And I've seen the Scooby movies with the Boo Brothers, the Ghoul School, and the Reluctant Werewolf (Shaggy had a girlfriend in that movie, didn't he? lol). I haven't even seen that much of What's New, Scooby-Doo?, though I've seen a few episodes of it. I also really liked the Scooby-Doo movies from 1998 to 2001, but didn't see the ones that came after ( ... )
