... but does the thought of Sarah Palin trying again thrill anyone other than Tina Fey?

Farewell post be damned!

I'm unimpressed. She'll have to manage to run her state well enough while maintaining visibility in the rest of the country for four whole years. During that time, she'll actually have to start facing some challenges with her disabled child instead of using him as a sympathy tool. I am unconvinced she will be able to keep up appearances. Especially if her daughter's shotgun marriage fails as quickly as it might.

Sure, there's a lot of interest in her, but interest fades. We'll have to see how things go over the next 4 years to see who has a shot at beating Obama. Incumbents have tended to have a little staying power lately, as long as they don't royally screw up... and even sometimes then.

It won't thrill Tina Fey, either.

What was it Tina Fey said? Something along the lines of "I don't want to keep playing that woman." (Wish I could remember where I read that [citation needed]).

I think it was around the time that she said her daughter looked at the TV, saw Sarah Palin and said "mommy"

She gave us one Democratic victory--I look forward to many more, each time she runs.

I'm personally looking forward to watching the Republican party implode. It's going to be a civil war between the uber-right-wing conservatives that loved Palin and the moderate Republicans who supported Obama after McCain named her his running mate.

Or rather between the social conservatives and the political and economic conservatives. Throw in the moderates and it's a complete mess.

Yeah this. Any sane moderate Republican knows that Palin means political exile for their party - it will probably get very ugly.
