URSAVISION 2007 STARTS!

The URSAVISION 2007 SONG CONTEST is now open for submissions! The last contest was a lot of fun and had some great songs, so why not join us this year? If you are an underground/independent musician, or have an obscure or foreign artist that you adore, submit a song and compete with others around the globe!

For your convenience and the sake of my friends' list readers who honestly don't care, there is a community set up, ursavision, where we can talk about the contest further and thus reducing the number of posts I have in my main journal.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE> Anyone! It doesn't even matter if you're on LiveJournal or not -- so long as you can get a song to me and vote on the other entries fairly, then by all means enter!

WHAT SONGS CAN BE ENTERED? The rough guidelines are as follows:

The song can NOT have been a representative song in the Eurovision Song Contest. Any songs that were in a country's national finals but not picked to represent that country, can be an Ursavision entry.

The song can NOT be sung by someone who has mainstream success in the US. Madonna, Limp Biskit, Barbara Streisand, etc., are all no-gos.

The song can be in any language, or in any combination of languages.

The song must be between 1:00 and 7:00 in length.

The song can NOT be a remake of a song that is well-known in the US.

If the song took part already in Ursavision, it is not eligible.

If there's any question on whether or not a song's well known, try to submit it -- if there is indeed a question as to the fairness of an entry, it can be brought up in the group.

WHAT'S THIS VOTING? After all the songs are submitted, you then vote on the songs that are participating.

You can NOT vote for your own entry.

You give 12 points to your favourite entry; 10 for your next favourite, then 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point. Any other songs get 0.

Please vote for the SONG, and not for/against the person submitting the song.

In the case of a tie, whoever has the most 12-point votes is the winner. If that's the same number, then whoever has the most 10-point votes wins. Again, if this is the same, it will go down to whoever has the most votes in terms of 8-point, 7-point, etc. May it not come to that!

ANYONE can vote even if they have NOT participated.

WHAT IF I WIN? Then you - erm, win, and can brag? :: laugh :: Your home city will then be labeled as the next host city.

There are two songs currently available by clicking here -- they are:

There will be a maximum of 25 entrants (since our max has been something like 16 or 17, this is hardly a problem!). Entries will be allowed until March 25th; from there you can vote on entries until April 29th. So by all means, submit a song! In order to submit, either link the song in the ursavision group, or email it to me by clicking here and attaching the song.
